View Full Version : Chad & TF Present: The 17th Annual Thanksgiving Thread Extravaganza
Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:17 PM The way things have been trending, I think this year or next year may be the last we're open on Thanksgiving. There has been too much backlash over it.
There's really no reason why they shouldn't give people the day off.
Black Friday super early the next morning was fine. I don't get starting it on Thanksgiving afternoon.
DA HOME GUY 11-28-2019, 03:17 PM Two weeks ago we got a huge snowstorm but the past couple of days it's been very warm and windy so it all melted.
What a bizarre twist since it's like 37 here last I checked but then again, for all I know warm to you and Chad is like 40

Here's about how it goes for me.
Under zero = Too cold
Zero to 25 = Cold
25 to 55 = Jacket weather but works for me
55 to 70 = PERFECT
70 to 79 = Warm but tolerable
Anything over 80 = Nope
DA HOME GUY 11-28-2019, 03:20 PM I had to climb this yesterday to get to the store.
I was in the process of uploading the pic of snow I sent to my family but there's no topping that. That's insane to me
I am Roboto 11-28-2019, 03:21 PM Just checking in.
Haven't done a very good job keeping up with you folks, alas. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
And I hear TF is TOO GOOD for the BURBS now.

Under zero: Never happens
Zero to 25: Never getting out of bed
25 to 55: Better have winterish clothes on all day.
55 to 70: Reasonable once it hits around 60
70 to 79: Normal weather
80 to 90: Warm weather
90 to 100: Hi summer, you were not missed.

Over 90: Rant on social media about how much I hate summer
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:26 PM Well, wise idea to wait til Black Friday is over.
I'll be working at Whole Foods tomorrow. The one I work at is the busiest one in New Jersey and is in a mall. I don't care what day it is, I just hope I get a switch with somebody so I can just do carts all day:lol:.

Whole Foods or a grocery store the day after Thanksgiving doesn't sound too bad. Most people are eating leftovers anyways.

That is snow in California. In fairness, it looked a lot cooler when it was coming down since it was thicker compared to when it hit the ground

Well, for someone that never gets to see snow that is pretty cool.
DA HOME GUY 11-28-2019, 03:32 PM LOL
Well, for someone that never gets to see snow that is pretty cool.
Given the talk of shoveling and everything that goes along with huge snowfall, I'd be cool with enough snow that covered the backyard but then melted before that was necessary.

Living in an apartment building is nice. They do all that for us.
Only thing that gets hard for me is they plow all the snow up to my little pathway that I use to get to the store, leading to that picture I sent and me having to climb that to get there. I've fallen a few times.
Stormtracker TF 11-28-2019, 03:35 PM I had to climb this yesterday to get to the store.

And I hear TF is TOO GOOD for the BURBS now.
How have you been? I was worried about ya since I hadn't heard anything in a while. Glad to see ya here.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:36 PM Broccoli is delicious. One day I'll live in a house with a lot of land and eat vegan cowboy food: brocolli, potatoes, cauliflower, etc. with a plaid shirt on living like the Cartwrights from Bonanza.

And I'll go to Bonanza restaurant.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:40 PM Living in an apartment building is nice. They do all that for us.
Not if you live in an apartment building without it's own parking spaces around here. Finding parking here at night is hard as it is when it's sunny and the weather is nice. Gotta walk to wherever your car may be and shovel it out just to have your space taken after you move it.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:41 PM And I'll go to Bonanza restaurant.
I want to go there as well.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:43 PM I want to go there as well.
Visit one day. I'll take ya.
So that was quick! It only took me 10 minutes to eat the meal.
However, prepping it took 5 hours to do.

That's crap. They have parking spaces here, but I don't have a car.
My sister got a snow blower to get her's out.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:44 PM So that was quick! It only took me 10 minutes to eat the meal.

What did ye eat?
Besides corn obviously.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:45 PM Visit one day. I'll take ya.
I appreciate this, but how will you be taking me? In a Fred Flintstone car?
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:45 PM That's crap. They have parking spaces here, but I don't have a car.

Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:48 PM I appreciate this, but how will you be taking me? In a Fred Flintstone car?
My sister could take us. Maybe a cab.
It is like 15 miles away so yeah.

That's how it is in Chicago and I hate it. When I move there I am getting rid of my car.

I read this and all the posts before really fast and thought you said she got a snow blower to thaw out turkey or something LOL
Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:52 PM That's how it is in Chicago and I hate it. When I move there I am getting rid of my car.
It was much easier for us in Chicago taking trains and stuff than it was the time you brought your car so I don't blame you.
What did ye eat?
Besides corn obviously.
Me? I only had mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and turkey.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:53 PM I read this and all the posts before really fast and thought you said she got a snow blower to thaw out turkey or something LOL

Chad22 11-28-2019, 03:58 PM Oh man, that was an absolute nightmare.
Even without the window breaking incident, we had the incident trying to get change for parking from that grumpy guy.
And I think with all of the traffic it actually took longer to drive from Lyons to Chicago than it did to take the train.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 03:59 PM One day when I can afford it I want my own personal driver if I'm living in a busy city still.

At least we had that one night driving around listening to 80's music while we tried to find that bowling alley.
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 04:00 PM Cut it out, Chad. Put a real Thanksgiving advar in.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 04:00 PM One day when I can afford it I want my own personal driver if I'm living in a busy city still.
Having an Alfred does sound pretty awesome.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 04:01 PM At least we had that one night driving around listening to 80's music while we tried to find that bowling alley.
That was cozy. One of the highlights of that trip for sure.

Barry is eating stuffing in it. He's just doing it so fast that you didn't notice.

Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 04:04 PM Barry is eating stuffing in it. He's just doing it so fast that you didn't notice.
A lie, but I respect this response so much I accept it.
Chad22 11-28-2019, 04:04 PM And we thought we had the corn, but didn't.
That's like an episode of a sitcom!
Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 04:07 PM So a lot of employees have been complaining about working on Thanksgiving, TF?
Chad22 11-28-2019, 04:08 PM Second year in a row this was a thing.
Stormtracker TF 11-28-2019, 04:09 PM So a lot of employees have been complaining about working on Thanksgiving, TF?
There are a huge amount of memes on the internet about it. To be honest, it's extremely unethical.

 It is. For the employees and it also feeds customers unnecessary money spending. I would resign from the job every year near Thanksgiving and come back soon after.

Something tells me they wouldn't go for that.

If you prefer play your cards right I see it being possible. For example, I could just say I have an internship in Maine for the fall being someone's personal driver.

I know a guy in Maine that could use a personal driver.

Chad22 11-28-2019, 04:37 PM I want more pie but I don't think I'm ready for it.

Elvis Fonzie Dean 11-28-2019, 09:12 PM For Thanksgiving dinner I ate mashed potatoes, stuffing, canned yams with marshmallows, cornbread, rolls, cranberry sauce, corn on the cob, vegetarian roast, with gravy, butter, and salt and pepper on some of these foods. Delicious. Gonna have pie, cake, and ice cream soon.

can't stand 'em - every single year my mom would go to ridiculous lengths to try and make them palatable, with brown sugar, marshmallows, who knows what - and every single year none of my siblings would ever eat any of them.
robyrob 11-28-2019, 10:18 PM I had a rough day - I was making roasted brussell sprouts, roasted asparagus and green bean casserole, and after doing most of the prep work first then putting the sprouts in the oven, after five minutes the element in the oven burnt right through so no heat at all. Not the sot of thing you can go get on thanksgiving day, so it completely screwed me over - had to go to the neighbors to borrow his oven.

Hi*Baller life
The Modfather 11-29-2019, 03:18 AM “What a feast.
I had Turkey, Stuffing, tons of Ham, Broccoli, my Mom's Macaroni Cheese Bake, some Egg Salad, Baked Beans, Cranberry Sauce, a Roll, and some Sweet Potatoes. Now I'm eating some Cheesecake, and some Apple and Blueberry pie with some whipped cream on top.
Needless to say, we're all stuffed."
Super later to the party, but I had to keep the tradition alive - hope everyone is well & had a great Thanksgiving. All the best in 2020! It's getting to be uncomfortably close to 20 years since I joined here.... 20 years in internet terms is ancient history. So crazy! Glad this site is still here & all of you are too!
Thank you.
Have a good one. Happy Thanksgiving.
You're welcome, and you have a good one as well.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
