An upcoming episode will feature scenes scripted exactly from I Love Lucy. Eric McCormack will play Ricky Ricardo, Debra Messing will take on Lucy Ricardo, while Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally will portray Fred and Ethel Mertz. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's firstborn child, Lucie Arnaz, will make a cameo in the episode.
dakert 11-26-2019, 09:54 AM I am all for keeping the memory of the terrific I Love Lucy alive. I could see in 50 years there will be more I Love Lucy homages and a new great Paul McCartney album (on Vinyl) and some newly discovered Elvis tracks :-)

HuntingtonM15 11-26-2019, 11:53 AM My God, they did a FABULOUS job making Debra Messing look like Lucy! It's phenomenal.
Smartboy 11-26-2019, 02:12 PM They should just close down all the studios.
What exactly is this comment supposed to mean?

It's just a ridiculous comment that should be ignored.
Debra Messing: We tried doing an I Love Lucy homage during Will & Grace's first run (https://ew.com/tv/will-and-grace-i-love-lucy-debra-messing)
"I believe, you know, 20 years ago when we were talking about things we wanted to do for fun on the show besides the live episodes, we talked about a live musical episode, and then someone also brought up I Love Lucy, and it was made very clear immediately that that would never be an option," Messing says in discussing tonight's I Love Lucy tribute. She adds: "Because of the rights. Lucie Arnaz and her brother (Desi Arnaz Jr.) have rights to everything, obviously, and they have never in their lives given anybody the permission to replicate any of the iconic scenes that are so, so precious to so many people. So we were just beside ourselves when we heard that Lucie Arnaz had given us permission, and was actually going to participate as well, which was obviously the icing on the cake. I think I actually started to tear up when we got the news because I just, I couldn't believe it. It really, it meant so much to me personally, it was an incredibly emotional experience, and it just felt like the ultimate gift for our last season."
Willbo 04-10-2020, 09:49 AM I usually do not watch Will and Grace but did last night. I have to agree that Debra Messing looked so much like Lucy. It was incredible. The episode was such an honor to I Love Lucy. Very well done. Did not realize that was Lucie Arnaz as the boss in the candy scene. She looked a lot like the original actress. A very enjoyable episode.
Will & Grace put a lot of effort into re-creating I Love Lucy (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/will-grace-inside-i-love-lucy-episode-1289533)
Thursday's I Love Lucy tribute was a 20-year fantasy for Debra Messing, who got to use the original Lucy Ricardo's original Vitameatavegamin bottle (https://www.instagram.com/p/B-yNU2PnwH_/). Every department on the NBC comedy had to bring their A-game, from production and wardrobe to hair and makeup, to props, set design and postproduction, reports Jackie Strause. "Those teams created 45 custom-made costume pieces; built exact replicas of the Ricardo apartment, candy factory, Italian wine vineyard and television studio from the Vitameatavegamin commercial; and brought in 14,000 pieces of the same milk chocolate-covered buttercream from See's Candy, 1,200 pounds of black grapes for wine-stomping and 48 bottles to match the original Vitameatavegamin prop," says Strause. "Each actor spent three to five hours in the makeup chair to complete their transformations." Co-creator David Kohan adds: "The crew was the most amazing thing — how each department really took this seriously and made it a point of pride to do the best possible job of recreating it that they could — they found the original-shaped Vitameatavegamin bottles on eBay."
Smartboy 04-11-2020, 11:00 PM I thought that the episode was pretty good. One thing that I found especially funny was when Will pointed out that he and Grace sleep in separate beds just like Lucy and Ricky! I remember other shows in which that reality was joked about. I also remember other shows from the fifties and early sixties in which husbands and wives slept in separate beds. I find it quite amusing in retrospect! One show that is on in syndication and that I have taken a liking to recently is "Green Acres". This series came out in 1965. This must have been one of the first shows in which the husband and wife actually slept in the same bed!
