So true. But at least Charlotte and Molly got that special time during Charlotte's 90th birthday celebration, and Julie got to hang out with Charlotte during Kim's time on DWTS. So at least half of the Lost Girls got a reunion of sorts with Charlotte.

Now is the best possible time, what with Molly opening up, and Julie Anne taking selfies with Felice... The two most quiet about FOL are ready to talk!

We can finally get that story of how Molly and Julie Anne were best friends on the set, and how Molly got Julie Anne to like stinky French cheeses while they were on the set taping "Like Mother, Like Daughter", and how some cheese even got all over the audio equipment, causing the studio audience's laughter to get muted, or how Julie and Felice fought over Blair's dress, after the taping, or how Felice and Julie Anne took Steve and Roger on a double date, and they were halfway to the drive-in when they realized Roger didn't actually exist, and Steve wasn't actually his name, and he was far too old for Julie Anne, so they ditched the guys, and headed back to the set, where they donned their rollerskates and knocked on Baryshnikov's dressing room door, and, and, and...

My imagination's going crazy, here, but you get the idea. I'm hoping it's the most comprehensive FOL documentary ever, but it'll likely just mostly focus on the Core Four, with a brief allusion to Julie Pie's posterior, and yet another contradictory timeline of who was the last Lost Girl to be expelled (this time, it'll be Felice's turn). And of course we'll get an insane rationale from Warren Littlefield, who will now claim that "17, 19 girls was just too many girls!"

But I'll hope for the best!

Well, I wouldn't put Julie Ann in the "quiet" class of Molly. After all, she's interviewed in one of the DVD bonus features (thank goodness!!). But she does seem quiet just overall as a person---her Instagram posts come few and far between. Of all 8 of Mrs. Garrett's girls, she definitely grew up to be the quietest on social medial, lol.

But now, with Molly having broached "Facts" THREE TIMES now in the last few years, she's breaking out of that "quiet" mold herself!

My imagination's going crazy, here, but you get the idea.

Haha, yeah.

Oh, I disagree. If Julie Pie is involved behind-the-scenes, I would say the Lost Girls will definitely get their time in. And I don't think anyone would ever claim Felice was the last to be expunged, as it is "Facts" fame and continuity of the tragic circumstance where she was the first brought on and the first let go.

And of course we'll get an insane rationale from Warren Littlefield, who will now claim that "17, 19 girls was just too many girls!"

CINDY WEBSTER IS ON BOARD!!!!!

-

OMG!!!!!

This is just awesome news!!!!

:cheer::cheer::cheer:

To have three of the Lost Girls on board for one documentary is just too awesome. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we've ever had three of them interviewed for any documentary or article. The DVD interviews were just Felice and Julie Anne. The E!! True Hollywood Story was Felice (and John L). The Disney interview was just Julie Pie. The retrospective article was Julie Pie and Felice. The Biography Channel interview was just Julie and Felice. The Molly interview and Charlotte 90th were just Molly.

I don't even dare to hope about Molly. I'm thrilled with Felice and The Julies. The documentary-makers have done their research.

RIGHT????? I came here to post the news, and I saw Lorsie's scoop on Felice! WOW the Lost Girls are POURING IN!!! :woohoo:

To have three of the Lost Girls on board for one documentary is just too awesome. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we've ever had three of them interviewed for any documentary or article.

I think this is a first! In "Retro"spect (ha), I am VERY surprised Julie Pie wasn't interviewed on the DVDs. I figure she MUST have had a scheduling conflict where she absolutely just COULD NOT be available (a shame!).

The Molly interview and Charlotte 90th were just Molly.

Well, that was really just a birthday wish, but I WISH it had been more. But she's been on WWHL and that "People" online interview! (solo Mollys, lol)

I am STILL in awe over that "People" interview that we got to WATCH Molly Ringwald WATCHING herself as Molly Parker. That is AMAAAAAAAAZING to me---think about it. How many actors from YOUR favorite '80s shows have you gotten to watch watch themselves???

I don't even dare to hope about Molly. I'm thrilled with Felice and The Julies.

 Right?? (but I still dare hope! I just "feel" that someone has reached out to Molly! Heck, maybe even directly on Instagram!)

Also: is that Julie Anne's house? It looks very cool. She even tagged the post with #cindywebster!

Hmm, not sure, but yeah, it is nice. And yes, love how she shouted out her character! This is TWICE she has used her first and last name! (DVD interview, now this) I think some part of Julie Anne is validating the fact that her character had a last name even though it was the ONLY ONE of the girls' surnames NEVER SAID on the show! (You go, Julie Anne!)

RIGHT????? I came here to post the news, and I saw Lorsie's scoop on Felice! WOW the Lost Girls are POURING IN!!! :woohoo:

I know! It's the best FOL news all year! Well, tied with the Molly interview!

I feel like the Lost Girls are coming out of the woodwork, and, perhaps I'm being immodest, here, but I don't know what else to think: I suspect it's possible that these amazing actresses may have received a little bit of a boost from positive fans on social media, LG fans ignited by some pro-LG videos on a hugely popular video streaming site. Maybe.

Or it could be possible that these talented actresses just feel it's time for a real FOL documentary which tells their true story, without the fan interpretation and Warren Littlefield editorializing. I'd be fine with that, too.

Whatever the case, it feels like they are re-embracing something we fans have known for years: they helped make FOL what it is.

I want to mention, too, how awesome it is that Geri is participating, and has been included. Seeing her and Julie Pie together was a very cool surprise; it feels like they have bonded over their shared grief of the loss of Charlotte, but that is just my interpretation.

I think this is a first! In "Retro"spect (ha), I am VERY surprised Julie Pie wasn't interviewed on the DVDs. I figure she MUST have had a scheduling conflict where she absolutely just COULD NOT be available (a shame!).

I also think that must have been the case, because Julie Pie has seemingly always been the first to promote the show and say "Yes, I'll be there. What time do you need me?"

That isn't to say that it's not completely valid for Julie Anne or Molly to pass; it is completely valid. It just felt odd to not get Julie Pie interviewed on the DVDs, because Julie Pie was, as Felice says, a "cheerleader for the show". And although Felice was seemingly talking about the first season, it feels to me like that has carried over all those years, because of all the times Julie Pie's been interviewed. That may also just be part of her outgoing personality.

Well, that was really just a birthday wish, but I WISH it had been more. But she's been on WWHL and that "People" online interview! (solo Mollys, lol)

Yeah, I meant all three of those; the birthday wish was just such a shock to me -- to everyone, I think.

I am STILL in awe over that "People" interview that we got to WATCH Molly Ringwald WATCHING herself as Molly Parker. That is AMAAAAAAAAZING to me---think about it. How many actors from YOUR favorite '80s shows have you gotten to watch watch themselves???

I agree. And it's such a cool format. What I'd love to see is more of that type of thing for the documentary: we watch the girls run down the stairs as someone says, "OMG, I'd forgotten about that kooky grandfather clock! And what was with all of the globes?!"

 Right?? (but I still dare hope! I just "feel" that someone has reached out to Molly! Heck, maybe even directly on Instagram!)

Okay. I'll hope. But I can only hope a little, otherwise my heart will be broken. WWHL. Charlotte's 90th. People interview. And now, maybe, this...?

Hmm, not sure, but yeah, it is nice. And yes, love how she shouted out her character! This is TWICE she has used her first and last name! You're not even theorizing what I feel is happening: the people behind the documentary are seeing online during their research and preparation what a fan base the Lost Girls have and how much they are revered, and they have reached out asking them to PLEASE be a part of this.

That may or may not be the case, it's just honestly where my mind went when I learned of this project. :)

I agree. Even though Cousin Geri was only in a handful of episodes, she made SUCH an impact with fans. Even casual fans remember Cousin Geri. She must have been the introduction to what CP was to so many in our generation.

I also think that must have been the case, because Julie Pie has seemingly always been the first to promote the show and say "Yes, I'll be there. What time do you need me?"

Right?? Why I found it so odd she was absent from the DVDs.

That isn't to say that it's not completely valid for Julie Anne or Molly to pass; it is completely valid.

As Mr. Rogers said, "It's such a good feeling!"

 So, so glad she's willing to be a part of a new documentary.

Well of course she is! :) You seem to feel (from my impression on the board here anyway, in more than one place) that Julie Anne is kind of "withdrawn" or "quiet" about her FOL time. I haven't felt that way simply because she was 1 of only 2 Lost Girls interviewed for the DVDs. So I've felt she's easy-breezy about talking about FOL, and that she and Felice are cool about talking FOL. She is a quieter presence on Instagram though, and more in line with season 8 Cindy, not bothering to try to be the center of attention at all, just going about her life in her jagged-patterned black and congealed-cheese-orange model top and cowboy hat.

We need more #cindywebster in our lives. Cindy! Cindy!! CIN-dy!!! CIN-DY!! CINDY!!!! CIN-DAYYYYY!!!!!

I hadn't even considered that possibility, but what with the Lost Girls videos on YouTube approaching 1,000,000 views, there's definitely that possibility. I know the videos have been widely shared on social media, and as we know, at least one of them made it into Julie Pie's demo reel, which I will always be thrilled about.

I agree. Even though Cousin Geri was only in a handful of episodes, she made SUCH an impact with fans. Even casual fans remember Cousin Geri. She must have been the introduction to what CP was to so many in our generation.

Definitely. But not just CP... any disability, since it was exceedingly rare to see a semi-regular character with a disability on US television in the early 1980s.

Right?? Why I found it so odd she was absent from the DVDs.

It definitely was out of character for Julie.

Is it though? I'm sorry, I just want Lost Girls SO MUCH!! Give your public what they want!

Haha! But no. I'd respect Molly and Julie Anne's decisions, even if I wish they had made other choices.

Haha! "Julie, do you remember how long it took them to do your braids?" "Omg, it felt like she was doing it for 5 hours, but it was probably like only 15 minutes, lol" :D

Haha! That'd be great! Or how about:

"The umbrella scene took, like, seven takes because it kept opening up on me, but wouldn't open when it was supposed to."

or:

"When Margo got hit with the pie, what you didn't see is that some of the whipped cream got on my Eastland uniform."

Well of course she is! :) You seem to feel (from my impression on the board here anyway, in more than one place) that Julie Anne is kind of "withdrawn" or "quiet" about her FOL time.

I definitely got that feeling from the DVD interviews, where Julie Anne seemed more quiet than Felice or Julie Pie in any of their interviews. The one time I felt like Julie Anne was more outgoing was the interview with her "Pretty Babies" photoshoot.

I haven't felt that way simply because she was 1 of only 2 Lost Girls interviewed for the DVDs. So I've felt she's easy-breezy about talking about FOL, and that she and Felice are cool about talking FOL. Well, you could be right about Julie Anne's attitude. But she has only done two interviews, even after all these years.

I know Felice is cool with talking about FOL: she's done far more interviews than Julie Anne.

I would LOVE them to reference social media, and the fans' love they see there. If they referenced THIS BOARD or your YouTube docs, OMG. Can you imagine???????

That'd be cool, but again, I can't bring myself to hope for such a thing.

True, but I meant CP specifically. As kids we'd heard of other disabilities, but probably many of us never knew what CP was until Cousin Geri showed up.

You count print interviews, but for some reason I don't. I'm only focused on screen media (I know, I know, you're asking "why", lol). Screen-only, it's rare for Lost Girls to be in DVDs or documentaries. And until the Internet (where Julie Pie has spoken in video), it's only been "Nancy" and "Cindy" that we've heard from.

True, but I meant CP specifically. As kids we'd heard of other disabilities, but probably many of us never knew what CP was until Cousin Geri showed up.

That's a great point, and something that really deserves discussion. I certainly knew nothing about CP before seeing "Cousin Geri" (the episode). I remember my mom talking with me after we watched the episode. Prior to this era, most people with CP just didn't make a living in the real world, so Geri was really breaking new ground by getting into show business. Many people with CP were sent to homes.

For me, I didn't, because she willingly took part, unlike the other 2 Lost Girls (unfortunately!). It showed that she was "on board" (but we both agree we're sure Julie Pie MUST have been unavailable).

And boy, am I glad Julie Anne was on board! Without the DVD interview, we literally would have known nothing about her, between 1987 and 2016!

Eh? Julie Pie was interviewed for Biography's The Facts of Life documentary and the E! True Hollywood Story documentary, even just counting screen documentaries prior to the Internet. We definitely have heard from "Sue Ann" over the years.

So... Felice says the documentary is being produced by Peacock (NBC's streaming service) for Reelz Channel. This is, IMO, potentially both very good and very bad.

The good news is that because it's being produced by an arm of NBC, there's a chance of getting rare, behind-the-scenes footage and photographs. They can really dig into the NBC vaults. We could get outtakes, deleted scenes, alternate takes, photos with girls posing awkwardly while holding baskets of cinnamon buns, etc.

This also could be bad, because of it being an in-house production, there may be an overemphasis on NBC executives' odd opinions (like Warren Littlefield's), as well as a glossing over of certain chapters in the history of the show, in favor of a puff piece mostly about FOL's biggest years only.

But then again, I see indications of the care and dedication the documentary-makers seem to have shown, with Geri, Felice, Julie, and Julie Anne all being invited to share their thoughts. This seems to be much more than a documentary about the Core Four. I'm guardedly optimistic.

I think I am too. But I'm more naively trusting that since it's Reelz, and maybe Mr. Littlefield WON'T be invited to participate this time, that it'll be SO great!

Also, Lorsie's title for this thread makes me wonder just how Julie Pie is involved behind-the-scenes?

That's a great point, and something that really deserves discussion. I certainly knew nothing about CP before seeing "Cousin Geri" (the episode). I remember my mom talking with me after we watched the episode.

I have MANY vivid memories of watching the show at my grandparents', and "Cousin Geri" is a VERY vivid memory because of how eye-opening it was to a child.

And boy, am I glad Julie Anne was on board! Without the DVD interview, we literally would have known nothing about her, between 1987 and 2016!

lol...but wait, what was 2016?

Eh? Julie Pie was interviewed for Biography's The Facts of Life documentary and the E! True Hollywood Story documentary, even just counting screen documentaries prior to the Internet. We definitely have heard from "Sue Ann" over the years.

Ah. Sadly, I don't have those, and never had recordings of them (just seen each once, though I've seen the E! transcript online).

I don't think Julie Pie is involved behind the scenes, except as an interviewee who will eventually walk behind the cameras. But maybe I am wrong?

I wouldn't mind a Littlefield segment, as long as he doesn't keep defending the flawed, mind-numbingly stupid rationale that there were "too many girls" at a girls' school, when there were only seven girls in that school. If there could be eight kids in the house on Eight is Enough, eight kids on Just the Ten of Us, six on Saved by the Bell, and, like, 15 on Head of the Class, seven was just fine for FOL.

No pun intended, she really is "striking" there! With that greenish sweater and the way her hair is and having her eyes done up, she really is beautiful in this photo. Nancy Olson is "bringing it"!

Yes indeed, it's a gorgeous photo. I look forward, though, to seeing her face straight-on, rather than at that angle.

(her mention of how long it's been though makes me wonder if the girls did their own makeup for the DVD bonus features, but you wouldn't think so).

I wouldn't think so. Not for a production that big. But who knows?

Agreed about the scripts.

According to this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_the_Class#Cast), there were 10 students in Season 1, 11 students in season 3, and 12 in season 5, in Head of the Class. With THREE Lost Girls scheduled to appear, I'm pretty sure we will get some new info. Anything would be great, but I'd especially like to hear about their interactions:

What was it like for Julie Pie and Julie Anne to work together on "Running"?
What were the tag scenes we've read in the scripts intended to be used for?
Who was really the last girl expelled? Seriously, this time.
Why didn't they appear in Season 4, at their graduation ceremony?
Did they laugh out loud when execs said there were "too many girls" at a girls' school?
How did Molly react when she saw her lines get cut on TNG, part 2?
Who was Julie Anne closest to on the set?
How did Julie Anne end up being cast, sometime after the backdoor pilot, when everyone else except Mindy had already been cast?
Who else, besides Felice, was worried about Line Count?
Who do they all keep in touch with (excluding Julie Pie... we know that)?
What are 23 funny/interesting/unusual incidents during their time on FOL?
Watch this FOL scene and tell us what you were thinking at that time
What was it like to come back in Season 8, after 5 long years?
What was the deal with all the globes?
Insert more questions here

Well personally I can't agree with that, because season 1 is considered such a "cult favorite". Yes, Tootie's skates are definitely classic, and an icon of the show seen only in Season One (her wearing them, anyway). Not to mention the first scenes of Blair being a snob, Natalie cracking jokes, Tootie gossiping, Mrs. Garrett fighting school administration, Mrs. Garrett offering the girls sound advice, Nancy having a never-seen boyfriend named Roger, and Cindy and Sue Ann being close friends and roommates, all of which would be things that carried over into Seasons Two and Three.

No, to me, Season One is inextricably tried to Seasons Two and Three, and as the oldest season, hence the most classic of the Classic Eastland Years.™

What I would hope is that there are new stories and details for all the seasons. My favorite documentary out there is Cast Confessions, but even it hits the same notes as the others; Season One purge and new addition, premise; Cousin Geri; weight gain; George Clooney; Charlotte Rae leaves, Cloris Leachman arrives.

My other feeling is is that main actresses are protective of one another and therefore tightlipped. Interesting that John Lawlor is included.

Well, Joyce's documentary was clearly told from one side (Joyce's), although it definitely dished up the dirt: Suzanne acting like a diva, John betraying Joyce, Ropers getting screwed, Ted Bergmann acting like a jerk.

Was the Dawn Wells documentary the one where everyone confirmed Tina Louise was a diva?

The Core Four have always said there was no drama on the set of FOL, other than the weight thing. We have discussed Pamela's comments, here, and there was the feeling, amongst some, that she must have been exaggerating. I don't feel that way, however, and I think it must have been hard for her, as the new "new girl", to try to fit in with older girls who had already established relationships.

While I never liked the character of Kelly, and felt like the producers were trying to make that character Jo 2.0, I'm sad she never felt like she fit in on the set.

I go back and forth on this. On the one hand, we know the documentary makers have done their research. After all, John, Geri, Julie Pie, Julie Anne, and Felice are all involved, and that has literally never happened in any documentary or interview. And because it's an NBC production, there's the chance that NBC could really dig through the vaults and find some truly cool footage. (The last cast photo that truly blew my mind was the Molly cinnamon bun photo).

On the other hand, as you say, because it's a company-produced piece, there's a danger of sanitization: glossing over things, justifying positions, covering up important details, etc. But I'm guardedly optimistic.

My thinking is that, for Pete's sake (who IS Pete, anyway??), it's been FORTY YEARS. Nobody cares anymore about keeping up appearances, so they'll just give it all to us straight. I mean, look at Molly Ringwald---she's been acknowledging and talking about the show the last few years!

What is the story with the cinnamon bun photo? :)

[gasp] You don't know?? I stumbled upon the discovery of this image in 2018 "on the Internets":

I don't know if Molly would agree with you, but yes, we fans are grateful!

I'll bump the "Gory and the Girls" thread so you can see how this photo ended up in a piece of "fan-boy art", lol.

I find that image hilarious! The fact that a photographer took a photo of Molly, posing stiffly with a cinnamon bun stuffed in her mouth, while her expression says "kill me now"...

I do have to say that the Gang of Seven (Nancy M., Lisa, Kim, Mindy, Julie, Julie Anne, Felice) are definitely a tight knit group. They still socialize with one another for 4 decades now. They reply to each others social media accounts. They have kept any drama close to their vest. The 3 lost girls don't seem to blame the core four for getting fired. If they blame anyone, it would be the producers and NBC execs, but not one another.

The TV industry was so small, back then: there were only three commercial networks, so the girls were bound to see each other on TV auditions, even though Nancy, Lisa, Mindy, and Kim had permanent jobs. I think young actresses would have to recognize that the decisions being made were completely out of other actresses' control.

To Julie Pie's credit, I think she has cultivated continued friendships with her FOL co-stars in a very positive way: she doesn't seem to be afraid to say, "I'd like to support you on DWTS in person, Kim," or (four decades earlier) "Let's go over to the McKeons' house in Burbank. Doesn't matter that Nancy 'replaced' me. Not her fault." (paraphrased).

Similarly, Felice and Mindy's friendship seems to be as strong as Kim's and Julie's. There seems to be that feeling of sisterhood, perhaps because Felice's mom became Mindy's agent, setting them up to be working together both in front of and behind the camera.

We know far less about Julie Anne's relationships with the other girls, limited to a few photos and stories, but I'm so glad that she's still doing interviews.

La Mol is a different story altogether. The only Lost Girl who seems to have had no close relationship with any other actress on that set (other than maybe Charlotte?), or perhaps she just broke free of those relationships when she went supernova in the mid-1980s.

Well molly is also probably the biggest name of any cast member besides George Clooney

Definitely. Can't get more famous than Molly or George.

Or La Mol decided she had moved on to bigger and better things and doesn't associate much with this part of her life anymore. It's obvious she is closer to her movies costars than her Facts of Life cast members.

That being said. I know a guy who said on some Facebook page said that he personally knows all the actresses and says Molly is in touch with Kim Fields periodically. He didn't say anything about the others when people asked him. Of course if it's on the internet, then it must be true (LOL). Molly and Mindy must have had at least some contact with one another when both were regulars for a season on "The Secret Life" of an American Teenager".

I still wonder what was the reason they never had Molly say one word to Jo in "The New Girl, Part 2".

Yes, and Molly said Mindy was a lovely person, so whatever was between them in the early 1980s is behind them now.

Interesting rumor about Kim and Molly. I'd love to see them become friends on social media.

Molly only had five lines in that scene, and had no previous connection to Jo.

I see Felice and Julie Ann as being closer now than Felice and Mindy. Just because of that wonderful photo of Felice and Julie Anne out having lunch together at a restaurant on the west coast from recent times. :)

Interesting, I didn't know Mindy was on Molly's show.

Because Molly didn't know Jo. Jo was "the new girl". ;)

That's definitely possible. Any idea what restaurant it was? Next time I'm on the west coast, I'd love to visit the place where two Lost Girls reunited!

Well, I assume it's the west coast. And I guess since "It's been way too long!" maybe they're not as close as Felice and Mindy, lol. But who knows? With social media and all now, maybe they keep in touch more. Then again, they might have been keeping in touch anyway, and she just means it's been way too long in person. Who knows?
