Superbatboy 06-21-2002, 03:15 AM I never understood why people liked A Different World. It was never funny to me. The only reason why it was a Top 10 show for so long was because The Cosby Show was it's lead in. As soon as The Cosby Show left the air, A Different World's ratings TANKED. Chocoholic 06-21-2002, 10:35 AM I like Cheers, but I have NEVER understood what people see in Frasier I just plain don't find the show funny. I wouldn't call it one of the worst spin-offs though, just one of the most overrated. TJL 06-21-2002, 07:35 PM HEllo Larry wasn't exactly a Spinoff, since none of the characters on that show were regulars on DIfferent Strokes. They did a few episodes with the cast crossing over to draw attention to "Hello Larry," but the results were dismal. At the risk of offending the Three's Company fans, John Ritter's spinoff "Three's A Crowd" wasn't good. They had a good run with the original, they didn't need to drag it out... TJ 06-21-2002, 10:20 PM Hello, Larry actually ran for a season and a half.. There are approximately 35 total episodes (if you include the Diff'rent Strokes crossover episodes).. Central Perk 06-22-2002, 10:47 AM I think one of the best spinoffs would have to be Laverne & Shirley, and Frasier...I'm not sure about the worst spinoff.. Well I like Cheers and Frasier but I think Frasier is alot better of a show. moosejaw 06-24-2002, 01:39 PM The worst spin-off I can think of was "Three's a Crowd". It was just a horrible way of keeping a tired "Three's Company" going. Maybe if they had kept Don Knotts it might have been watchable. James 06-24-2002, 02:12 PM The worst spin-offs I can think of off-hand are "The Facts of Life" and "Maude". TJL 06-24-2002, 03:40 PM As much as I enjoy "M*A*S*H," I have to say that "AfterMash" was really a bad idea. Should have been called "Anti-Mash..." Mr. Stefani 06-24-2002, 08:31 PM "Time of Your life"...It was a spin-off of "Party of Five". It lasted like 10 episodes:lol: shocolah 06-24-2002, 10:31 PM "The Ropers" and "Three's A Crowd" were awful! APPLEI 06-26-2002, 12:05 AM
Originally posted by TJL HEllo Larry wasn't exactly a Spinoff, since none of the characters on that show were regulars on DIfferent Strokes. TJL 06-26-2002, 04:18 PM McLean Stevenson never should have left M*A*S*H. Hello Larry was one of his better post Mash efforts, but he never got a part as good as Henry Blake. SBTB Geek 06-26-2002, 05:02 PM Best spin- offs Frasier Facts Of Life Lavarne & Shirley A Different World Melrose Place Worst Saved By The Bell: The New Class The Small Wonder spin-off Married With Children spin- off (with Joey from Friends) Baywatch Nights Flinstones Kids Ziggy 06-26-2002, 07:13 PM I think the worst spinoff was "The Brady Brides" because I thought both Marcia and Jan deserved better husbands than those two! TJL 06-26-2002, 07:34 PM Originally posted by MaryRLPetrie I think the worst spinoff was "The Brady Brides" The Brady Brides! NOOOOOOOO!!!! Man, that show was awful... Brian Damage 06-26-2002, 07:58 PM Originally posted by SBTB Geek Worst The Small Wonder spin-off I didn't know there was a Small Wonder spinoff?!? Worst Spinoffs: Gloria The Tortelli's (I'm a Cheers Fanatic and wanted this show to be funny, but it just stunk!) The Jefferson Spinoff(Starring Florence Henderson, I believe they called it Checking In?)It wasn't very funny. *Melissa* 06-26-2002, 09:27 PM "Joannie Loves Chachi"... spun off of Happy Days, flopped after a few episodes, was never heard from again. That's my vote for worst spin-off. Mrgman 01-04-2006, 07:17 PM Archie bunker's place snl 70s show fan 01-04-2006, 07:19 PM its a tie between fish and flo Michael72581 01-04-2006, 09:01 PM Archie Bunker's Place The Facts Of Life A Different World Family Matters Saved By The Bell: The New Class rjb182 01-06-2006, 01:17 PM I unfortunately (fortunately?) haven't seen some of the most infamous spinoffs, like "Joanie Loves Chachi" and "AfterMASH..." Of the ones I have seen, I'd say the worst was probably The Golden Palace. They didn't just lose a character, they changed the whole style of the show, and failed to make it funny. After watching "The Golden Girls" for years, my family quit on that one after just a couple of episodes... KristinHerreraFan 01-06-2006, 05:13 PM The Facts Of Life :eek2: factsoflife 01-07-2006, 02:15 AM one word: Joey treky 01-07-2006, 02:54 AM "Joey" should be an example of how NOT to make a good spinoff!! The other worst ones are: Top Of The Heap-short-lived spin-off of "Married With Children". I think it only lasted for about 5 episodes, fortunately. It was HORRIBLE!!!!! After Mash The Ropers-they were funny on "Three's Company, but they should never have given them their own series. 704 Houser Street-I remember when it was on, my sister watched it once, and when I asked her how it was, she said "It's just "All In The Family" with a different cast. That's all." Mr. Television 01-07-2006, 03:15 AM I'll go with Living Dolls. That was a spin-off of WTB. Dean Winchester 01-07-2006, 03:43 AM The Facts Of Life A Different World how funny, those two get my votes for not only "best spinoffs" but actually two of the only spinoffs that were better than their parent series IMO Dean Winchester 01-07-2006, 03:45 AM one thing a lot of people forget (thankfully) is that Top Of The Heap, which was a spinoff from Married With Children with Matt LeBlanc that most like to forget ever happened.... also had its own spinoff, Vinnie And Bobby, which also had LeBlanc. Just that alone should've been a warning to NBC about Leblanc not being the "go to" guy to keep the Friends franchise alive |
