In it's first season there was a slight difference of the set.

While the doorway to the right was to the kitchen to the right of it was a window and in later seasons it was supposed to be behind the wall.

Wonder why the change?

What happened to the actress who played Fred's sister in law originally?

Also since S&S debuted in Jan. of 1972 why do the 1st 2 episodes if not more have a 1971 date on them?

Obviously they would have started taping that year but I would of expected then to have a 72 date since that's when they were released.

Last what's the story of them ending up on NBC instead of CBS where most Norman Lear shows were on?

Not sure about the other stuff but I think Redd Foxx thought that his old childhood friend LaWanda Page would be a better fit (and provide more comic fireworks than the original aunt) so that's why they brought HER in. Miss Page said that when she first got the offer, she thought it was a prank- but then Mr. Foxx called her himself and threatened to knock out her teeth if she didn't take the role at which point she knew it was legit!

I'm glad LaWanda took the role! Glad she could keep her teeth :D and she was a very great, funny addition to the show! ;)

OH Nuts!

She sure was! I think Esther was my favorite character & I LOVED her retorts to Fred’s disses.

Forgot to ask when I posted this, why the kitchen wasn't even seen in season 1?
