The 9 a.m. timeslot is down 3% from this time last year, shortly after Kelly was removed following her blackface controversy. The Wrap notes: "While ratings for the third hour of Today have not bounced back post-Kelly, viewership for all the network morning shows has eroded in the last year."

When it comes to morning shows ABC and CBS always seemed to be number one and two with Good Morning America and CBS This Morning but Today used to be the number one morning show for NBC but lately if you watch Today you'll notice that it has turned itself into a celebrity gossip show with stories about celebrities such as Prince Harry Meghan Markle Beyonce Taylor Swift Dwayne Johnson and Johnny Depp and from time to time Today will take a whole hour and devote a whole hour to celebrity stories with titles such as "What Really Happened To Prince? Prince's Best Friends Tell All or Inside The World Of Mariah Carey or Celebrity Christmas Traditions and I don't know why or how Today has converted itself into a celebrity gossip show when it was originally a morning show that would discuss the latest news of the day. A second thing I noticed about Today that plays a huge factor in Today's ratings is their concerts and it seems that when they have singers like Christina Aguilera Jennifer Lopez Martina McBride Gwen Stefani and Kenny Chesney perform concerts that are a waste of time and Today should make the singers talk about their new albums rather than perform a concert. I usually watch Today during Thanksgiving mornings for their Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade preshow but even that has gone downhill because it's mostly talking and I remember when Today would show a sneak peek of the parade and would show interesting footage rather than talking. I think ever since the departure of Kathie Lee and now with the Matt Lauer incident I think Today's image has indeed changed and if the low ratings continue to drop NBC will soon cancel Today and put another better morning show in it's place

The 3rd Hour of TODAY show should need much redoing & rebuilding with even more improvement. ABC's GMA is very dominant with great roster of talent and impressive segments.
