Combine two things that people enjoy "vacations and game shows" and you have The Great Getaway Game that was The Travel Channel's first and only game show to date in The Travel Channel's history. Debuting in 1990 The Great Getaway Game featured two contestants "one being a returning champion in a future episode" trying to compete for a vacation to anywhere in the world while answering questions asked by Wink Martindale who hosted this show and correct answers gave the contestants a chance to look for certain letters hidden under a number board similar to Concentration that spelled a mystery vacation spot. The contestant that had the highest score in The Great Getaway Game won and went on to play a special bonus round that had the winner do a word search to find the names of popular vacation spots and if he/she won the round the vacation would become theirs and go on to win again in the next episode. It's a shame we don't see travel related game shows on TV anymore and considering that this show is the only game show that The Travel Channel has had The Travel Channel should try again with another vacation related game show soon
