Whiskey Cavalier alum Das, who starred in his own Netflix special (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QclTi3xNS-s) in 2017, could end up leading ABC's proposed spinoff of Fresh Off the Boat. An episode filming next month will feature Das and Indian actress Preity G. Zinta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preity_Zinta) as parents whose daughter goes to school with Eddie Huang. The episode could lead to a spinoff, according to Variety, but it won't be considered a backdoor pilot. A pilot would still be shot during pilot season.
