The Netflix series' stars will play wildly different characters from the ones they normally portray in the special fourth episode of Season 5. "The lovely thing about this episode is you see a lot of our regular characters in a different light," says Tom Ellis, adding that they all take on new personas with vastly different "characteristics." "The thing about Lucifer is that he's timeless, so he's been coming back to Earth all this time. There's an element to Lucifer where he seems to be from the Oscar Wilde period. And to see the other characters fall back into that style is quite interesting."

Lucifer is doing a full-blown musical episode (https://ew.com/tv/2020/01/13/lucifer-season-5-musical-episode-title/)

EW reports that the ninth episode of Season 5 will be a musical episode. "Titled 'Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam,' (wonder who speaks that line of dialogue…) the hour will feature multiple musical numbers and shouldn’t be confused with the final season’s fourth episode, which is 1940s noir themed and contains two song performances," reports EW's Chancellor Agard. "Music has always been a big part of the WBTV drama’s DNA going as far back season 1. In fact, showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have always wanted to do a musical episode but were waiting until they came up with the right story." Modrovich says planning the episode has been like playing Tetris, adding that "it's going to be just such a bucket list thing for me."

The “Lost in Your Eyes” and “Foolish Beat” singer will guest on the Netflix series as Shelly Bitner, a controlling helicopter mother who won’t let her teenage son JJ have any say in his own future.
