WOW!!

On a recent episode of "Schooled", young teacher Laney wants to make a gal pal with new young teacher Wilma, so she follows her to a trivia night at a bar. Laney's trying to convince the standoffish Wilma it could be worth trying to start a friendship, and the trivia host asks the next question:

Host: "What star of 'The Breakfast Club' was in the original cast of 'Facts of Life'?"

Wilma: [unsure] "Tootie?"

Laney: [buzzes in] "Molly Ringwald!"

Host: "Correct!"

Laney: [disdainfully to Wilma] "Tootie? Seriously?"

Wilma: "I'm sorry. My brain isn't stuffed full of useless pop culture fluff."

Laney: "But mine is. Which would make us the perfect teammates. The Salt and Pepa of trivia."

Wilma: "I have no idea who that is."

Laney: "Exactly why you need me."

Wilma: [looking Laney up and down, considering] "Fine."

OMG, that's so awesome, '80s! Thanks for sharing it.

Isn't that the second pop culture reference on the show? If so, one of the writers must love FOL!

D'oh! Yes, the spin-off, "Schooled". Which happens to air IMMEDIATELY AFTER its parent show "The Goldbergs", which, as we all lament, FOL should have done after DS in its first season!

(I went back and corrected the post)

My pleasure, and that dialogue is verbatim---I kept the show on DVR just so I could transcribe that moment! :typing:

When she said "The Breakfast Club" I perked up, and when she got to the words "original cast of" I thought, "OMG---is it??" in that split second, and it was!! :cheer:

At least---"The Goldbergs" actually had an episode called "The Facts of Bleeping Life"! (season 2, episode 3)
