"The Facts of Life" Trio Reunite
by Matt Webb Mitovich
October 21, 2019

Three Eastland alumni have been reunited for a Lifetime holiday movie.

Airing Sunday, December 1, You Light Up My Christmas follows Emma (played by executive producer Kim Fields) as she returns to her hometown built around her family’s Christmas light factory two weeks before Christmas.

But upon her return, Emma discovers the lights have gone dim in the once-festive town (!!!), prompting her to reconnect with an old flame to set their hearts and the town ablaze with light again.

Kim Fields' "The Facts of Life" costars Lisa Whelchel and Mindy Cohn will also appear in the made-for-TV movie.

Nancy McKeon will make an appearance via FaceTime.

Wow, so it's actually the whole core four including Nancy McKeon's FaceTime! Very cool!

Now if only they'd reunited ALL EIGHT girls for a Christmas movie! (in Peekskill! )

This is very cool! If only Julie Pie or Molly could make an appearance since they're both still acting.

Wonder why Nancy is only doing a “FaceTime” appearance, and not truly appearing in the film. That’s cool, but a bit disappointing.

I would LOVE that, too!

...And while we're asking, might as well ask for Julie and Felice as well!

This is wonderful but sad that only Nancy is appearing via FaceTime. Also, Kim Fields needs to produce us a reunion reboot with Nancy. Give us the redemption that the fans really need!

I'd like to see a new version of The Facts of Life where Kim Fields returns to Eastland School as well as the other girls and they help the other students about life.

I think the series should be called More Facts of Life.

Kim addresses Nancy's "video" appearance only in this Instagram video. My bet is it had to do with her father's passing a few weeks ago.

I just watched it! I will give a few spoilers ahead so just warning you if you don't wanna see any.

It was mostly Kim in the movie. Unfortunately Mindy and Lisa were only in two scenes. Their second scene had FOL references galore though! First Mindy references roller skating to Kim, I'm sure that was a Tootie ref. Then Lisa pops in with food from "Edna's Edibles"! And this is also when Nancy makes a cameo on the phone through facetime! Over all it was cute, FOL fans will appreciate these subtle nods!

Thanks for the report, Lorimar! That sounds very cute, and the FOL references also sound cool.

Unfortunately, my satellite service has moved Lifetime to a different billing tier, so I won't be watching after all.

Aww, "Edna's Edibles", what a fantastic direct Easter Egg reference! :)

I wasn't wanting to watch it, so thanks for the info.

Didn't get to watch it, but maybe on a rerun. What was the thing that was named after Charlotte? And was it named Charlotte Rae or Edna Garrett? :)

That's a shame.

If it had the Lost Girls in it, I would have considered bumping up my subscription package. But no Julies or Felices, no buy.

Dom and Britt did a special report for the Facts of Facts podcast. It was a funny episode, but the movie sounds truly awful.

That's possible, but Britt also seems to hate FOL with a passion. She thought Season One was bad, until she saw Seasons Two and Three. At this rate, I wonder just how she's going to make it through six more seasons (150+ episodes), three more TV movies, and all those layers of Aquanet.

It makes me think of Mystery Science Theater 3000, where mad scientists make a prisoner watch hours of bad movies. Now, I personally LOVE the first four seasons of FOL, but it's clear Britt doesn't like a single moment of anything she's seen. Even after three seasons, she still can't tell the difference between Sue Ann and Cindy. By the end, she won't be able to tell the difference between Jo and George Clooney!

The blond Julie’s are practically twins

Ahahahaha!

Sung to the tune of "The Patty Duke Show Theme":

Meet Cindy, who's trained in every sport,
And always wearing shorty shorts
But Sue Ann's only running now
Because she's jealous, Blair says "Ow!"
What a crazy pair!

But they're roommates,
Nearly identical roommates all the way.
One pair of matching students,
Different as night and day.

Where Cindy adores a rugby match,
And wearing clothes that don't quite match,
Our Sue Ann loves her Daisy Dukes,
She binges food and then she pukes!
What a wild duet!

Still, they're roommates,
Nearly identical roommates, and you'll find,
They walk alike, they talk alike,
Abruptly leave the show alike!*

You can lose your mind,
When roommates are two of a kind

First, Nancy McKeon misses-out on the Facts of Life reunion movie, and now Nancy has to miss-out on this new Christmas movie, too? Will this be enough for fans to hate Nancy McKeon?

I don't hate her. I know her brother's illness prevented her from participating (much) in a TV movie. After all, she did appear, and has also done TV Land awards and Paley Festival Q&As. So it's not like she's spent decades avoiding FOL, unlike La Mol, who didn't do interviews about the show for 30 years.

(...but who is now doing interviews about FOL! Yay, Molly!) :)
