As some here know, there was another brush fire not far from me.

It burned at or near the same area as did in 2008.

I don't live in the foothills but can see them from my house. The worst of the fire was at night, so I couldn't see much. A lot of smoke, though, eventually as the fire progressed. I could also see some flames at times.

The closest it got to me was about 3 miles. Sounds close but there are hundreds of houses and streets between the fire and me.

Here are some screenshots I took:

Stay safe. I hope it gets contained soon.

I drove to some of the areas which the fire affected.

Note how close the fire got to homes in some of the photos.

Glad it didn't get any closer to you, 3 miles seems pretty close though.

I am glad to hear that you are safe and that your neighborhood was not affected by the fire.

Brush fires are a part of life when you live in California especially this time of year when we are dealing with Santa Ana weather conditions.

I had to evacuate from my home back in 2007 due to the Witch Fire; one of the most devasting fires in California history.

Thanks, well, the land is almost all developed between me and the fire. Including a freeway.

Thanks again.

Yes, I remember that fire. A very big one.

Here are the humidity readings from the fire near me 2 weeks ago. Imagine the humidity on the coast only 3-8%!

I saw on the news where they have been turning off the electricity around the fire area. Has that happened where you are?

Yeah, that's what I wanted to ask, about the power outages. How is that affecting businesses, schools, work places, ie grocery stores, gas stations? Do those planes drop orange retardant on your homes? How are you living with all that?
Also, I wanted to ask our Bonnie, how it was affecting her?

Fortunately, my neighborhood has buried/underground power lines. Under the street. Wind does not affect it. I've always been glad about that.

Also, I don't live in a fire zone (but not far from one!).

From what I've heard, when they cut the power, it does affect businesses and traffic lights. It certainly would be inconvenient!

Thank you MISST3, I am fine! I live really far from where these fires took place! I did smell lots of smoke though even as far away from the fire as I am !

I was really worried about Fleet though, he is pretty close ! :confused:I had PM'd him and he told me he was OK, Thank God! ;)

Yes, really inconvenient! I feel so bad for those poor people that had to endure the terrible fires and now to be without electricity! :(

Good pictures BTW! ;) Just a shame what the theme of the pictures is! Awful this had to happen! :(

Glad to hear you are BOTH okay!. It just looks so devastating on the news, night after night. God bless the firefighters, many who are volunteers!
