EVER WONDER

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?
Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why is it that to stop Windows 98, you have to click on "Start"?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
When dog food is new and improved tasting, who tests it?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes?
Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Why is the abbreviation for pound lb. when l or b isn't in the word pound?
Why do British people never sound British when they sing?
If it's zero degrees outside today and it's supposed to be twice as cold tomorrow, how cold is it going to be?
and finally...If you mated a bull dog and a ****su, would it be called a bull****

Some do. Davy Jones did on some of The Monkees' songs.

I know I'm weird then. The sun darkens my hair, and the sun makes my skin turn red. I burn so easily. *sigh* I even tried some of the sun tan lotion, and it looked so fake. I would've been better off putting dirt on my body. I guess I'll be the shade of Casper the ghost for the rest of my life. lol

Don't worry, we can be weird together. I couldn't tan if my life depended on it. I tried the fake stuff too, and I looked like a pumpkin, I was so orange. It's funny, I was so white when I was little, I tried to color myself dark with a Crayola marker. I'm still like that. :(

I'm glad I have someone to be weird with. Lucky for freckles I suppose. At least I have a few freckles on my arms to give me some color.

Can I be part of your group? Brown hair, white skin, and freckles. I stopped even trying to tan because it just goes red to white, red to white.

Meaning 'all right', 'all correct', OK came into widespread use in the USA during the first half of the 19th century. It's similarity with words of the same meaning in native American Indian languages and several languages spoken by slaves brought from West Africa helped it's rise in popular useage, but OK got it's greatest boost as a political slogan. In this context, OK was an abbreviation of 'Old Kinderhook', the nickname given to the Democratic politician Martin Van Buren. Kinderhook was his birthplace in New York state. When he ran for the presidential election in 1840, Democrats all over the country were encouraged to voice their support for Old Kinderhook, or OK, because in the eyes of his supporters he was "orl korrect" (all correct). So the politician and his policies became a rallying cry as the country went to the polls. Even though OK failed to win the election, the term associated with him had caught on and soon made it's way around the rest of the English-speaking world.

So now you know. :D
