Many of you probably already know this. She was cast as Christine, the new public defender, starting in the second episode of season 2. After she taped a show, or part of a show, she was let go. Markie Post, still a regular on “Fall Guy”, came in and taped an episode as Christine, but she wasn’t available as a regular. Ellen Foley then joined as Billie Young, until Post was available to return as Christine at the beginning of season 3.

I'm not surprised at all that Shelley Hack was fired. I can't even imagine her doing a show like Night Court.

I agree, DJM77. As beautiful as Shelley Hack was (and still is), I seriously doubt she would've had the comedic chops that were required for the role of public defender Christine Sullivan.

Lest we forget, Hack was also controversially fired from "Charlie's Angels" at the end of its fourth season in 1980--she had replaced Kate Jackson, who had departed the year before--due to eroding ratings as well as a lack of popularity among television viewers.
