I never caught this before but it's true! When Mike was mugged and Beverly went to help Mike he told Gloria in the hospital "they must have figured out who he was and began beating him with the pipe."
Before he left the Bunkers, Edith gave him a scrapbook with all the clippings of his drag show performances. When he went to help Mike, he had to have dropped the book and the muggers saw the contents and beat him up.
So it's Edith's fault he was killed. If she never gave him that scrapbook, they wouldn't have known what he was since he was dressed as a man.
It's probably why Edith was so devastated by his death. She knew it was all her fault.

Your logic is insane.
It's so not Edith's fault that Beverly was murdered by homophobic punks. Are you forgetting that normal people don't beat to death transvestites who are in possession of scrapbooks?

It's not insane, but very logical. She gave him a scrapbook as a Christmas gift that had all clippings and pictures of his shows. When Beverly left the Bunkers house he wasn't in drag, so the muggers would have no clue that he was a female impersonator or even gay.
And Mike specifically said to Gloria in the hospital that "they must have known what he was and beat him with the pipe."
The only logical conclusion is the scrapbook Edith gave him before he left the house. The muggers saw it when he tried to protect Mike and learned what he was and turned their attacks towards him.
It's actually 100% logical.

I'm not saying she literally murdered Beverly. Geez. Just that she unintentionally caused his death by giving him the scrapbook.

Hmmmm...... the title of your thread is Edith killed Beverly LaSalle
To reiterate, you would make a TERRIBLE district attorney.
Such convoluted logic :crazy::crazy::crazy:

The title does not necessarily mean literally. Her actions had a cause & effect on his death. You can disagree with me even though you know i'm right. If Edith never gave Beverly the scrapbook, the muggers wouldn't have known what he was. It's basic logic, not convoluted at all.

Edith may have been responsible in a more direct way. As I mentioned in a recent thread, two visitors died in the Bunkers' house and two more were brutally murdered just after walking out their front door, in just a few years. Even in New York City, that level of carnage at one address is extremely unlikely.
It's almost certain that someone was directing this, and Edith is the logical suspect. The others all have alternate places - Archie and Gloria go to jobs, and Mike goes to school - and we don't know of any death clusters at those places. The deaths center at 704, and Edith controls that spot. Tellingly, not long after Edith is hired by the Sunshine Home, she is seen sitting quietly, just watching, as life slips away from one of the residents.
Edith doesn't seem to be a psychopath, but that's the trick, right, to seem innocent if not actually addled? I'll submit that her case is very similar to that of Vinny "The Chin" Gigante, the mafia* boss who evaded the justice system for forty years by feigning mental impairment. "The Dingbat" may just be a very shrewd cover, and indeed we do see moments where Edith changes, suddenly becoming lucid and even forceful.
*Even the FBI don't use that word.
This all does make sense when you think about it.
Now i'm wondering if Edith held a pillow over Cousin Oliver's face while he was sleeping up in that attic. And remember, before anyone even said anything about it the next morning, Edith correctly guesses that "Cousin Oliver is dead, isn't he?"
And she gave the watch maker tea right before he croaked on their couch. Most likely to get him out of the way so Archie wouldn't give him the $1,000 for the door bell investment.
It all actually adds up!!

I highly doubt they would spend time looking thru a scrapbook to see who he was AFTER Mike got jumped on..
I think it was totally random...

No, Beverly LaSalle was never murdered because Beverly LaSalle never existed.
Beverly LaSalle was a fictional character on a fictional show that was fictionally 'murdered' because Norman Lear wanted to make a political statement.
OH Nuts!
