I don't believe I've ever seen any comments on the old Horoscope vending machine seen in the background on Alice. I always get a little nostalgic whenever I see it. I remember seeing them in stores and restaurants when I was a kid. I even bought one. Anyone else remember them--or am I just old! :)

Maybe some of the younger members don't even know what it is, so here is the description from http://historysdumpster.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-starscroll-horoscope-vending-machine.html

If you were in any department store or local bar in the late 1970s and early '80s, you definitely remember these.

They were vending machines that for 25¢ (50¢ later), gave you a monthly horoscope. Just twist the middle knob to your sign, plunk in your money and out came this neat little scroll. (Make sure you twisted the middle knob to your sign's scrolls, and make sure your sign's scrolls were still in stock BEFORE you plunked your money in.)

And out came this neat little scroll.

I LOVED Star Scroll machines! Used to always get mine in Zayre’s at the checkout area!
What sharp little eyes you’ve got! Would’ve never even noticed that, will look for it now when I watch my “Alice” weeknights at 8pm on Antenna!

Now that you mention it, for some reason I DO remember those scrolls (I may have gotten one once only) but I don't recall the machine itself at all. Astrology sure was a "thing" back then, wasn't it? Remember when a hot pickup line was "What's your sign". I wasn't even old enough to date then, and I remember that line well.

I think they were in Pizza Hut restaurants. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was them because my memory seems to recall seeing those machines in a dark place. My family would go out to eat at Pizza Hut once a week, and they had the lights dimly lit and there were candles on the table. The machine would be in the lobby, and I would "play" with it while waiting.
