A post on Nichelle's twitter account, which says it is managed by her "team," reads:
"Next year, I am retiring from public life. There will be panels, celebrity autograph signings, photo ops, a party, banquet, luncheon, vendor room, exclusive merchandise, and more at the farewell celebration event."
The tweet includes a link to buy tickets for the event.
I personally do not believe for one minute that Nichelle wants to retire. According to Nichelle, her son Kyle Johnson has been pressuring her to retire for years. In 2018, Kyle applied for and received a conservatorship over Nichelle. According to Nichelle, she was unaware of the court proceedings.
In a 2013 video interview, Nichelle said: "Many times my relatives think I'm working too hard or shouldn't be doing this after all these years, and my beautiful son Kyle says, 'Mom you have to slow down'. I think he thinks Star Trek is not a blessing to me.
I say to him, 'Kyle when you pay my bills, you'll be able to tell me what to do. You don't pay my bills!' He says I shouldn't travel so much and I say, 'You can't tell me what I can and cannot be as a human being.' All my ventures in my life have been mountains that I enjoy climbing and I think he still really doesn't understand.
He can't tell me how i can live my life. He thinks it's really awful that i'm still traveling. I don't have to do anything. He thinks I should stop doing what I'm doing, going out and being who I am......God gave me this opportunity."
Now that Kyle has gained a conservatorship over Nichelle, I guess he is getting his wish in forcing her to retire.
Kyle and an osteopath named Meena Makhijani have claimed that Nichols is suffering from "moderate progressive dementia."
Meanwhile, Nichelle was spotted this weekend looking well and meeting fans in Cincinnati.
Nichelle is still embroiled in a legal battle with her son over the conservatorship. In the latest development, Nichols' longtime manager Gilbert Bell has been granted a restraining order against her son for making alleged death threats against him.
Nichelle's son Kyle moved for a conservatorship after his mother cut him out of her will. In a letter explaining her decision, Nichelle wrote that her son had told her several times: "I can't wait to get rid of this **** and sell your house."
Nichelle has been heard on video describing how her son isolated her from friends and blocked her from having visitors, even on her birthday. When she initially learned of the conservatorship from Bell, Nichelle stated, "So that's why nobody comes to see me anymore."
