The full runs of Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless exist, and most soaps have full episodes post-late-‘70s.

It would take money to digitize them and the potential audience is relatively small. Not enough ROI.

Over time, the technology for digitizing might improve to make it cost effective, especially for all the new streaming platforms & whatever new media technologies exist.

Or, it could be one of the few "busy work", non-automated menial jobs available for people in the near future.

Of course, many of the soap episodes may no longer be in existence, perhaps getting recorded over each other in the rush of filming 5 days a week for years on end.

P&G owns the rights to several shows and they aren't going to release them.

What's the point in owning rights to intellectual property if you aren't going to make money off of it?

It depends on the company that owns the show. For example, PGP/Telenext Media (which owns As The World Turns, Guiding Light, Another World, etc.) won't release the rights to any of those shows to any streaming service.

Y&R is a prime example. Most if not all of the older episodes that were uploaded on YouTube or on the CBS have been taken down. It is very rare to see any classic Y&R episodes nowadays.

I would LOVE to see Guiding Light again! That was my all time favorite soap. Reva Shayne, Jonathan, Gus, Blake, Dinah, etc. They were all like family to me!

There are Guiding Light episodes on YouTube. You have to search for them and not all of them are there--especially the old ones.

Guiding Light is one of those that won't ever be streamed because of the company who owns the rights won't allow it.

Besides, there is a huge cost to digitalize those shows and it's not worth the return on investment.
