Ronen Rubinstein & Sierra McClain Land Leads in Fox’s "9-1-1: Lone Star"

"9-1-1: Lone Star" has cast its 9-1-1 operator and Rob Lowe’s son.

Ronen Rubinstein (Dead of Summer) and Sierra McClain (Mindhunter, Empire) have been cast in lead roles in Fox's "9-1-1" spin-off.



Rubinstein will play TK Strand, the firefighter son of Capt. Owen Strand (Lowe), who follows his father to Austin, TX.

McClain is Grace Ryder, an Austin-based 9-1-1 call center operator and wife of firefighter Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack).

Rubinstein, who plays the gay son of Lowe's character on the Fox procedural, says his on-screen relationship with future police officer boyfriend Carlos Reyes, played by openly gay actor Rafael L. Silva, helped him come to terms with and accepting feelings that he had suppressed for as long as he can remember. Fans of the show have branded the couple "Tarlos." Rubinstein calls his experience a "journey," adding: "I fully identify as bisexual. I literally just got goosebumps saying that. It feels so good to talk about it, it feels so good to finally be comfortable with it.”
