Just watched the Hawaii three-parter again, a ritual for me every year since the post-9/11 Fandemonium. There are a couple of things I've wondered about for a while.
Does anyone know when the opening scene in the Brady living room was filmed? Was it just before the cast and crew left for Hawaii, or was it at the end of the third season? I ask because not only was Mike's hair still straightened - the change to curls minutes later sort of bugged me even back in 1973 - I was also wondering if the kids' reactions were for a genuine surprise or just part of the script.
If you ask me, they missed a chance to really drill the "bad luck" into the boys' minds. Mr. Hanalei said that anyone who touched the tabu would get bad luck. But nothing bad seemed to happen to David after he touched it and called it silly superstition. Except that he was never seen again for the rest of the story, of course.
