Seven TV series created and produced by Stephen J. Cannell over the last two decades, including "21 Jump Street" and "The Commish," could return to cable as early as this fall.
Cannell has signed TV distribution veteran Frank Flanagan to sell the series, all of which are one-hour action shows. Flanagan, based in Naples, Fla., said he has started contacting cable networks as potential buyers for the shows, which represent hundreds of hours of episodes.
The series with the most episodes is "Silk Stalkings," which amassed 176 hours during its eight-year run, first on CBS and then on USA.
Two other Cannell shows have racked up more than 100 episodes, the usual minimum for shows seeking a syndication afterlife: "Renegade," starring Lorenzo Lamas (110), and "21 Jump Street," with Johnny Depp (104).
The other Cannell shows are "The Commish," with "The Shield" star Michael Chiklis (94 hours), "Wiseguy" (75), "Hardcastle & McCormick" (67) and "Greatest American Hero" (44).
1. Silk Stalkings
2. Renegade
3. 21 Jump Street
4. The Commish
5. Wiseguy
6. Hardcastle & McCormick
7. Greatest American Hero
I swear I saw Wiseguy on Court TV before...
