View Full Version : Eddie Money (1949-2019)
Zoneboy 09-13-2019, 02:11 PM Eddie Money, the prolific singer and songwriter whose songs “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Shakin'” and “Take Me Home Tonight” soundtracked popular music in the 1980s, died Friday (Sept. 13). He was 70.
A statement provided by his family reads: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”
Money recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.
A reality television series about Money and his family, “Real Money,” had aired on AXS TV starting in April 2018. It chronicled his life at home and with his family, revealing his health struggles.
Money made his home in the Bay Area where he performed at the city’s clubs regularly. A star of MTV’s formative years, during which he starred in a series of comedic music videos, he saw major chart success with such songs as “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise” and in 1986 “Take Me Home Tonight”, a duet with Ronnie Spector, which was a radio hit. He was signed to Columbia Records and released 11 albums throughout his career.

ABlairican Pie 09-13-2019, 07:39 PM In 1979, in 11th grade, I was at a school dance, too shy and lonely to ask girls to dance. So a teacher, or was it a faculty member?--pulled me out from the chairs in the back of the room. She danced with me to "Two Tickets To Paradise".
That was my Eddie Money memory moment.

Hawkee 09-14-2019, 02:04 AM In the 80's when rock music was hip and cool between the rock groups and the new wave music scene there were rock artists like Bret Michaels Ted Nugent David Lee Roth and Gene Simmons Eddie Money was the KING of rock music and as you know why I capitalized the word king to describe Eddie Money because in the rock music scene Eddie Money ruled the Billboard charts in the 80's and was a role model for many rock stars. With songs like Two Tickets To Paradise to Take Me Home Tonight Eddie Money's songs were so cool to sing along with and if you were a young teenager your crush probably had lots of Eddie Money cassettes in his car and you probably sang Baby Hold On as a teen while getting dressed for a night out on the town with your friends. Eddie Money also had a hit with the song I Wanna Go Back in the 80's that was also featured in the 1993 movie Indian Summer that showcases his talent well. It's a surprise that in music today you don't see singers like Eddie Money because he had talent and uniqueness and lots of fun and catchy songs to sing

Bestie
Hi, Bestie! I have a story for you. A long time ago, I was supposed to go to an Eddie Money concert with a date. But she cancelled on me to go out with another guy and I gave my tickets to a friend. I was sitting in a hotel bar, getting plastered and feeling sorry for myself, when this guy asked me why I looked so down. I told him and he said him and his friends were going up to his room to party and I was invited. So I went and was having a great time. I realized I had not even asked this guys name so I went up to him and told him my name and how glad I was to have met him. He laughed and asked me if I was kidding. I said no I did not get his name. A guy nearby heard me and started laughing his head off. He told me "You don't know the guy who's concert you blew off? This is Eddie Money!"
That is my story, Bestie. Eddie Money may have been a big star then, but he was a regular guy.
