How do you think the show would have been had Granny been Jed's mother and her being in TOTAL control of the family?

I heard that originally she was to be Jed's mother, but they changed her to his mother-in-law instead b/c of her hair-triggered temper ready to get her gun after anyone who crosses her, they wanted Jed to be able to overrule her making him the one in charge.

But if Granny had been the mother and been in total control, what do you think would have been the fate of the Clampetts? Would they have all ended up in jail as Granny would demand them be at war with half of Beverly Hills all the time? lol
