We sifted through the list of upcoming shows and tried to determine which ones might not survive 2019. Maybe it's a case of a bad premise, showrunners with awful track records, or just tired storylines. Regardless, this group of programs may not be long for the televised world.

ABC is no stranger to genre thrillers based around supernatural events or characters that have otherworldly powers. In that vein, the Alphabet Network is bringing us Emergence, about a police chief who finds a mysterious young girl near the site of a major accident. That discovery leads to a vast conspiracy surrounding the child.

Though the idea of superhuman kids on television is far from new, networks haven't had the best success with the concept in recent years. Fox dipped its toes into the Marvel universe in 2017 with The Gifted, a show about a family that discovers its children have the mutant gene. The show lasted two seasons before being canceled. The network tried again two years later with The Passage, in which a federal agent protects a young girl at the center of a series of top-secret government tests. That show lasted ten episodes before getting the ax. And when you realize that ABC has struggled with some of its other out-of-this-world sci-fi shows like FlashForward or V, it seems Emergence could be headed for a relatively quick disappearance.

Watch the video to see what these are the fall TV shows that are sure to get canceled!

My pick for first cancellation of the season is The Unicorn. That was an awful choice to lead out of Young Sheldon in its first year as anchor. While shows don't usually get pulled early any more, it could happen with The Unicorn as CBS has Man With a Plan and Pauley Perette's new comedy Broke waiting.

I'll stick to the classic shows like the ones they show on Me-TV and Antenna TV.

I'm watching the Texas A&M vs. Clemson game on ABC. They keep pushing Stumptown really hard. A cop show with the top character being a slutty female renegade. Like we haven't seen this crap fail a zillion times. I honestly predict this show lasts 3 weeks tops, even with the heavy promotion by ABC. Hollywood is completely out of ideas.

IF I watch any of their new shows (still mad at ABC's shameful treatment of TKAA) it will be Emergence, that looks like it has promise. Of course stuck in the 10PM Tuesday slot where ABC shows are often one and done Emergence doesn't seem to have a chance. In For the People's case (also started out Tuesdays at 10) it was cancelled after the 2nd season, which at 20 episodes total for the whole series isn't even a standard full season of 22.

I am going to think Sunnyside will be the first cancellation of 2019-20. It premiered to an 0.4 demo rating and 1.77 million viewers. Last Thursday saw Sunnyside slip to an 0.3 and 1.25 million. I'll also be surprised if NBC waits until after Thursday Night Football is over, or even the Thanksgiving holiday, to pull Sunnyside from its schedule.
