Nick at Nite shouldn't air Roseanne and Coach. Quite frankely those shows are dumb! They are already on TBS and local stations, so why waste time and valuable air time and put it on N@N?

Coach is leaving TBS this September and then it will move to Nick at Nite. Roseanne is leaving TBS in the 3rd quarter or so of 2003, and then it will move to Nick at Nite and Oxygen in September/October 2003.

I disagree with you about Roseanne. It was a very funny show that I grew up watching and all of my family loves, it was a groundbreaking show. If it was so dumb and no good Nick at Nite would not be buying the rights to air it. It gets very good ratings on TBS and that is one of the reasons why N@N wants it too.

As for wasting time airing it I don't think so. The Cosby show is on TBS and in sydication where I live and Cheers is in sydication where I live. Do you think it is a waste of time to air those too. I don't.

I am so not looking forward to that. I guess maybe I should just start taping episodes now beause I have a feeling that N@N will hack it to bits when they air it.

Yeah, your so right. N@N will probably hack most of Roseanne's episodes because they weren't really family kind of subjects they probably won't show later episodes and just show early episodes that weren't as unfamily.

I kind of agree with the first post. Since Coach and Roseanne are already on TBS, N @ N could pick up another show that is hardly shown. Also, Coach and Roseanne are really new sitcoms. They ended in the late 90s, didn't they? I think its kind of soon for them to even be shown on Nick @ Nite, but no matter how many people complain- N @N is going to show it anyway.

The best way to deal with Oxygen, or Oxigyn, as my old science teacher Grady Bailey said is that:

I Breathe It.

Amen.

I believe THENDUDE'S aghast is stemmed from the fact that Slick Nick, or Nick at Nite, is picking up a questionable show like Rosanne. For Nick at Nite, which in part is a cash cow derived from Nickelodian Kiddie Programs within the Viacom Sphere, has made a most curious move this.

Amen.

For true TV Watchers of Nick will know that shows of a controversial nature on Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes were skipped altogether. Which of course seems to indicate that Nick at Nite is a G Rated "Brady Bunch or Brady Grid' type Network based on Disney 50s Living.

So why the switch to Rosanne, a PG rated show (maybe even R in places. For my child would not get to watch the shows involving Masturbation, Homosexuality, Sex (Becky, Darlene, Connors), Coarse Behavior, Coarse Talk, etc etc etc). I say again Why The Switch To Rosanne by Nick At Nite? Probably like you said mate: Ratings. But consider this:

A: LOTS of shows will be skipped. We know that Facts of Life & Diff'rent Strokes (among others) aired in Prime Time (Deion Sanders nickname years ago). Assuming Rosanne gets a Top Choice Slot, say 9:00 PM EST like Cosby, MANY shows will be skipped for the Kiddies. Amen. So:

B: I the Man of Barnes believe that Rosanne will be banished to the Graveyard Shift, just like Family Ties and Three's Company; say 3:00 AM. Or maybe 12:00 Midnight AT BEST! Meaning:

C: Rosanne's ratings will go down, and as per Slick Nick tradition, will become space filler for a few months before going away into the Vault. And the people said: Amen. Amen. So the key to this Rosanne Equation is:

D: How Long Will This Show Be Going On? (like the song says...sort of) I'll bet a year in Graveyard...then Che Qui (Who Knows)?

As for wasting time airing it I don't think so. The Cosby show is on TBS and in sydication where I live and Cheers is in sydication where I live. Do you think it is a waste of time to air those too. I don't.

Syndication is fine whenever there is a "good calling" for the TV Televised Material. For instance, I would LOVE to see All In The Family in Wider Syndication. But if there is a "bad calling" Syndication Wise, Then we're getting into a question of:

OVERSATURATION

Which is bad.

Amen.

Now what of Rosanne? I think Slick Nick should concentrate on getting more classic type shows or else become a clone of the other 'OVERSATURATED' networks out there. See my Nick At Nite Spectrum Analysis on the Usenet, which is for All Nations, Tongues, and Kindreds (yea yea yea) in rec.arts.tv or else search here for more info; simply type in:

Spectrum Analysis. For more Info that is Information or Data.

And I don't think Rosanne cuts it for several reasons:

1: Too early in its lifespan (90s). Shoot why don't you get Friends and 7th Heaven while you're at it Nick at Nite? I promise I Won't Watch. For I generally don't watch 90s shows or upwards as I am a Retro Man (Brady Bunch, Gomer Pyle, TAGS, that sort of thing.

2: It does not fit the proper format as a Righteous Sitcom for Kids and Teens, and so assuredly will not work (see above A)

3: The lottery season (last season) is a Major Shark Jump thus disqualifying Rosanne from Hall of Fame Status like All In The Family (which ironically had controverisal material which was dealt with MATURELY, unlike Rosanne which is Smart Allecky and Sarcastic. Amen.

And the Brady Bunch or Brady Grid:

Righteous.
