OK......

Three guys check into a hotel. The bell captain charges the men 30 dollars for their room. Each man gives the bell captain 10 dollars, and are shown to their room.

Moments later...the bell captain realizes he's over-charged the men by 5 dollars! He asks the bell boy to take five dollars and return it to the men.

On his way to the room, the bell boy thinks to himself "These guys didn't even tip me...and it's hard to split up 5 dollars! So, I'll keep 2 dollars and give the men back 3!"

OK...so how much did the men originally pay? 30 dollars.
Now, if they get refunded 3 dollars...then how much did they THEN orginally pay? 27 dollars, right?

Now...add the 2 dollars the bell boy kept. That makes 29 dollars, right?

SO.....






Where did the other dollar go? :confused:

so no money is actually missing?

because the way it's worded...your doing hte math wrong

30-3+2 isn't the way

it's 30-3-2+5=30!!

There WAS no missing dollar.....heres who had how much money & when

The 3 guys pay the captain $30.

Bell captain - $30
Guys - $0
Bell boy - $0.

The captain gives $5 to the bell boy & tells the him to give it to the guys.

Bell captain - $25
Guys - $0
Bell boy - $5.

The bell boy keeps $2 & gives the guys $3.

Bell captain - $25
Guys - $3
Bell boy- $2.

25+3=28. 28+2 = 30. It makes sense
