Harper made headlines when she and husband Cacciotti walked out on her late 1980s NBC comedy Valerie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hogan_Family#Seasons_1_and_2), which changed its name to Valerie's Family. After a second holdout, Harper was fired, Sandy Duncan was brought in and the show was ultimately retitled The Hogan Family. "A beautiful woman, a wonderful actress, a great friend and with balls bigger than mine," tweeted Ed Asner (https://twitter.com/TheOnlyEdAsner/status/1167571396811083776), Harper's Mary Tyler Moore co-star. "Her brilliance burst through and shined its light upon all of us. Goodnight beautiful. I’ll see you soon." Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal (https://twitter.com/PhilRosenthal/status/1167576913080008705) added: "One of our all-time favorites has passed. Wonderful, funny, lovely, supportive and a huge influence on and off stage, we love you, Valerie." Parks and Recreation and The Good Place's Michael Schur tweeted: "Valerie Harper was one of the greatest TV actors of all time (https://twitter.com/KenTremendous/status/1167575457971101696). A true comedic genius. She inspired me, and I loved her very much."

We all knew it was coming, but it doesn't make it any less sadder.

RIP Valerie Harper

I'm so sorry to hear this. As Heenan says, I knew it was coming, but it's still sad news. I especially loved her as Rhoda, and just re-watched the wedding episode this week.

The world lost a true talent today.

For those who were fans of her work on the 1986 series 'Valerie,' (later known as The Hogan Family,) Antenna TV will be airing an 18 episode marathon tribute to her. It will air this Sunday from 1p - 10p eastern.

I wondered why there were so many tributes to her today. I honestly thought that she had passed away a while ago but now I remember that she had been very ill a few years ago but had recovered. She will be missed.

Rest in peace Valerie. :(

I knew that this would be coming eventually, but at least she is no longer suffering and in pain anymore.
