View Full Version : Moesha in 2019: Forgotten or still remembered? TMC 08-28-2019, 09:10 PM Moesha was one of the biggest dramedies of the '90s, but in 2019 is it forgotten, remembered or slightly acknowledged? adamchandler 05-10-2020, 01:39 PM its remembered but not as much as some others like martin, fresh prince , living single etc. Furienna 05-10-2020, 03:11 PM Just recently, I remembered a science fiction story, that I wrote as a young teen way back in the '90s, that I called "Moesha". Of course, the name, both of the story and the protagonist, was taken from this show. That is where the similarities between it and my story ended though. Like I said, my story was science fiction and not a realistic dramedy. Also, I think my Moesha was a blonde white girl. (She did have a darker-skinned friend though.) I just liked how exotic the name sounded to me then (and I don't believe I've heard it anywhere else afterwards either), so I found it suitable for a girl from another planet. But as for this show, I think I only watched it sporadically when it was on. I liked it well enough at the time, but not as much as i.e. "Family Matters" and "Step by Step" and "Sister Sister" and "Full House" and "Fresh Prince". So as much as I often will be a dissenter from the popular opinion, I have to join the consensus here. I remember this show and hardly disliked it, but it was never a favorite of mine. And when I think back on my most beloved TV shows from my youth, this one will never come up in my mind. And I think I know why. This is pretty much the only dramedy, that I watched between heaps of light-hearted sitcoms and several melodramatic soap operas. So I wasn't used to the tone of this show. |
