In the episode "The Windfall" in second season, James find $29000 in the alley that was the loot from robbery from local supermarket.
Before James return the money, he took $2000 from the loot and only returned $27000 to the police. Florida flipped when she found out and insisted that James return $2000 also. Which he finally did at end.
If I was James, I would have kept $2000 for emergency family fund and wouldn't tell Florida or family about it. Some people might say that is morally wrong to keep $2000, but I think that is fair reward for being honest and returning $27000 to its original owner.
After all, James found the loot money and not stealing it. So 7% commission for returning the money sound pretty fair to me.
