View Full Version : Antenna adding new shows in 2020
BigManMike 08-23-2019, 01:17 PM Just saw the news today. Antenna is adding Diff’rent Strokes, Facts of Life, Designing Women, NewsRadio, and Who’s the Boss in 2020. Not happy they are coming to that credit crunch network. Wish Who’s the Boss was joining Me instead. It’s a shame DS and FOL are leaving Me. I only hope the Nexstar acquisition will go through and maybe they can stop the crunch by then.

Merry24 08-23-2019, 01:55 PM I was hoping Leave It To Beaver & Newhart & Mr. Belvedere would Return.I really was hoping for Just The 10 Of Us & The Wonder Years & Amen to be added as well! Oh, well.
As a kid I watched Different Strokes & The Facts Of Life but today I loose interest to easily. (I would like to try both shows again to see if I will enjoy these again when they start on Antenna TV.
Also as a kid I liked Who’s The Boss? I noticed as time went on Who’s The Boss I lost interest in some episodes. Although out Of all the shows Coming I’m looking forward to Who’s The Boss? The most.
Antenna TV is still a great channel!
icecream 08-23-2019, 01:56 PM Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, and Who's the Boss are great pickups for Antenna TV. Designing Women and NewsRadio, not so much.
It's a shame that DS and TFOL will be gone from MeTV.
BigManMike 08-23-2019, 01:59 PM It’s a shame Me lets contracts for good shows like Diff’rent Strokes and Facts of Life expire, but they get these long term contracts for crummy shows like Mash and Hogan’s Heroes and let them overstay their welcome.
MikeLutton 08-23-2019, 02:09 PM antenna schould of got alf n mamas family as well.
1960'sTVfan 08-23-2019, 02:41 PM I wonder which shows will be leaving Antenna TV with the addition of these five new shows. Some shows will have to leave the schedule to make room for the new ones.
AMackII 08-23-2019, 02:42 PM Wait? Different Strokes has been on Antenna TV serveal years back but it would return to Antenna TV next year(in 2020) though but at least it & Facts of Life have enjoyed their stay on MeTV.

I wonder if Joey Bishop might be one of the expiring shows. I recorded all the episodes so if Joey Bishop leaves the schedule I still have my recordings to watch.
Designing Women will probably most likely be leaving feTV as well.
LUNCH 08-23-2019, 05:42 PM Newsradio? Isn't that from the 2000s.Some may like it but in my opinion Antenna TV should stay away from 21st century shows. But hey otherwise I still like the channel.
BigManMike 08-23-2019, 05:45 PM Designing Women will probably most likely be leaving feTV as well.
feTV is a cable network so it might still stay there as well. feTV airs some shows that are also on Antenna or Me. But it will probably leave Get TV.

It's from the 1990's. Great sitcom BTW.

I guess the reason I didn't know that is by the time the 1990s rolled around I was watching mostly reruns of 1960s and 70s TV.
Svenfan1234 08-23-2019, 05:55 PM I hope this means that lousy Coach & lousy Gimme a Break are expiring. These shows would be huge upgrades to those lousy shows. Also Chico and the Man & It's a Living would make good additions to Antenna.

Well the glory days of sitcoms were ending by the late 90's. By the turn of the century I was just watching about 4 or 5 of them. A few years later it was down to 2.
VisualSensation 08-23-2019, 06:23 PM How disappointing, a bunch of retreads from other diginets. Guess I'll have no reason to watch this network for years to come.

Goodlife Tv and TV Land did air it at one time.

I stand corrected. I watched a full cycle of WTB on a local independent station three years ago.

Yes, I know Who’s the Boss aired on Family Broadcasting Company (FBC, formerly known as LeSea) owned channels and may still air on them. Those channels are WHMB 40 in Indianapolis, IN, WHME 46 in South Bend, IN, KWHB 47 in Tulsa, OK, KWHE 14 in Honolulu, HI, and WCVI 23 in the Virgin Islands. It was probably one of those stations where you saw it.
BigManMike 08-23-2019, 08:12 PM I just checked. It still airs on those stations

The station I saw it on was WVTV 18 in Milwaukee. Its a Sinclair station that has never had an affiliation. They had a history (ending after 2016) of airing 80's shows in the middle of the night during the summer as filler. Others I remember from the last 20 years are Gimme a Break and Too Close for Comfort.

Yes we get it here on WHMB. I'm guessing it's expiring based on this. You never know though--WHMB aired MASH while it was on MeTV.
It's a good add for Antenna TV, since it had a long run and very little of it is out on DVD.
Too2muchtv 08-23-2019, 09:49 PM Oh no this stinks :(. How much longer is it until MeTV loses DS and FOL?
stevea 08-23-2019, 09:58 PM As I said on another thread the Diff. Strokes add for Antenna TV doesn't make much sense. They've made multiple tries with it before and they always seem to drop it.

Diff’rent Strokes aired consistently on Antenna from January 2013-December 2014 then the contract expired and they didn’t renew it so it was on a solid two years.
Tubehead 08-24-2019, 12:13 AM you guys are luckey comcast took away my Antenna tv!! now they changed it to light tv!! its ok they do got some classic shows! but most of them come on other tv stations!! i still get me tv!! I hope comcast don't get rid of me tv!!
icecream 08-24-2019, 12:23 AM As I said on another thread the Diff. Strokes add for Antenna TV doesn't make much sense. They've made multiple tries with it before and they always seem to drop it.Like thebigcookie said, Diff'rent Strokes aired all of 2013 and 2014. When it left was because the contract expired, MeTV has had the rights for a few years. And Antenna had Diff'rent Stokes in primetime Sunday nights and I think Wednesday nights, that was the year they had the block parties of different shows in primetime. So it must have done well for them.
theoneandonlytvqueen 08-24-2019, 01:05 AM I'm looking forward to who's the boss? as i haven't seen in it in 7-8 years since hallmark took it off . just hope they put at decent time.

Didn't they put it in primetime on weeknights and then shift it, maybe to the graveyard? I'd really like to see it in primetime again.
mikey0581 08-25-2019, 04:19 PM I am excited for Who's the Boss to join the lineup. Sucks we have to wait another year for it to premiere, oh well we waiting this long, we can wait more.
cfr1970 08-25-2019, 07:48 PM I'm excited to see Who's the Boss, Designing Women & Facts of life. Most especially Who's the Boss since they never released DVD's past season 1 and I haven't seen the show since it's original airing.
And even back in those days, I didn't watch the whole series so many episodes if not whole seasons of it will be new to me.
I just hope these shows get prime time slots between 7 and 11pm weeknights and Carson gets put back to 11pm since they're all repeats that have cycled around multiple times already.
mets82 08-26-2019, 10:54 PM I will check Diff'rent Strokes, Facts of Life and Who's the Boss when they debut on Antenna. I wonder if FOL will be showing the full episodes or will they be chopped up like on Logo.
Heenan Fan 08-28-2019, 01:43 PM When I read the thread title, I actually thought Antenna TV was adding a news program, ala Fox News or CNBC.:lol:
Merry24 09-08-2019, 10:14 AM According to Antenna TV Facebook That Girl will be coming to Antenna TV Starting January 2020!
I can see Antenna ditching a lot of shows they currently air for all of those. Hopefully MeTV can pick up whatever Antenna drops. I'd love to see Coach and Murphy Brown on MeTV instead.

Another good show ruined by that horrific credit crunch. At least this one’s complete on DVD.

I’d also like to see Gimme a Break and Benson on MeTV.

I can get behind that as well. The problem MeTV has is to many westerns and the constant M*A*S*H on the schedule. I wouldn't mind Hogan's Heroes if it had a different timeslot. Something like a 4am or 5am timeslot would be way better.

Antenna TV is still a great channel!
The Wonder Years is on Hulu. WIth Hulu Plus, I can watch all episodes commercial free.
I think Diff'rent Strokes is on Starz! On Demand. (At least as of three months ago), and similarly commercial free, on demand.
Amen is already on getTV, which competes with Antenna TV. Designing Women also made it's way to Hulu as well, and AFAIK on getTV. I wonder if it leaves getTV when it airs on Antenna. Newhart is on Decades.
I think that I'm looking forward to Who's the Boss on Antenna. That show isn't on another platform, another than Crackle (and limited seasons and not commercial free there). I've seen Facts of Life on Logo but it'd be nice to see it on Antenna.
