HELP!!! Does any1 know what the first sitcom show on British TV was?!? I need it for an essay and can't find it on ANY site I've checked > . < PLZ HELP!!!:confused: :(

I know there was a sitcom called "Life With The Lions" in 1955, but I think norfolk could be right that Hancock was the first though I can't remember which year it started.

It was a programme called 'Pinwright's Progress', broadcast fortnightly between 29 November 1946 and 16 May 1947 on the BBC. It starred James Hayter as the owner of a small general store. There were 10 30 minute episodes.
