Just saw a re-run where Danny has a 1st date since being a widower with none other - Barbara Billingsly !

and she was the same character as Bev's Mom !

Yep; I think this part was sort of an audition for 'LITB" that debuted the fall of 1957 which was originally on CBS for ONLY one season before moving to ABC and the 2nd house!

During this fourth season Danny was probably testing out actresses for a marriage in season 5, and Billingsley was one of them. But he finally settled on Marjorie Lord.

Re Beaver, it ran on CBS for one season, and switched to ABC for the second thru sixth seasons. At the end of the second season it switched production studios, necessitating a "move" to a new house for exterior shots, and new sets to match. Many people think the house switch coincided with the network switch, but that wasn't the case.

Sorry but according to the Tim Marsh Book of Network TV Shows as well as TV GUIDE the show was on CBS for the first 2 seasons and moved to ABC in fall of 1959 in the 2nd and last house!

Sorry but Wikipedia is known to make LOTSA MISTAKES! Every OTHER source stands behind what i stated. I was a child during its FIRST RUN and remember the switch after the first 2 years and was baffled at the new 2nd house which was inly alluded to one time when Beaver went back to the yard to check something. The series was ALWAYS filmed at Revue Studios ( part of Universal).

You have TV listings from 2 different sources, and I could find many others. Here's another:

http://purehistory.org/leave-it-to-beaver/

The 2nd house switch after the 2nd season has NOTHING to do with the network switch. Cite WHEN it was on CBS in season 2 as I cited SOURCES SHOWING the TV Listings as to the time it was on ABC on Thursday night in the 1958-1959 season.

You're also wrong about Revue. LITB was filmed at Revue/Republic Studios for the first 2 seasons--it was changed to Universal for the third season--thus the new house.

Oh, and of course Jerry Mathers in his book, And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver, documents the network switch after the first season. But what does he know? He was only the star of the show. Quoting from the book (page 98) -- "So when MCA bought Universal in 1959, Leave it to Beaver came along with the package. We had switched from CBS to ABC in 1958 when Purina Dog Chow had become our main sponsor." You need to contact Mathers and tell him he's wrong--he has a website.

Believe what you want, I'm done.

Sorry, I lied... I'm not done.

I dug out another book, "The World According to Beaver". Page 21: "For the first two seasons, "Beaver" was filmed at Republic Studio and then moved over to Universal Studios."

Page 24: " 'Beaver' switched in fall 1958 to ABC where it remained. There were four time changes during the ensuing years hwoever: from October 1958 to June 1959 it appeared on Thursdays from 7:30-8:00 P.M. ..."

On Thursday at 7:30 in the 1958 season CBS had I Love Lucy reruns.

I've now quoted 5 sources, 3 online and 2 print. Editing to add another source:

https://www.reruncentury.com/primetime/1958-1959/

What does the Tim Marsh book say was on ABC on Thursday at 7:30 in the 1958 season? And what does it say was on CBS at that time?

At least Miss Billingsley wound up with a much QUIETER spouse and kids via June being wed to Ward than had the character married Danny! Rarely did the Cleaver guys raise their voices while it's hard to recall a time when the Williamses did NOT shout at the top of their lungs. I imagine she kept her hearing a lot longer than she would have had she stayed on MRFD.

Yeah, Danny Thomas was really loud on his show. Shouting was the order of the day.

That was William Demarest. Liked him much better as Uncle Charley.

The yelling record was set in those episodes, with the two of them going at it!
