What Back Carol Burnett and Friends, HighWay Patrol weekdays 5am eastern

and Bat Masterson Saturdays 7am east and Barnaby Jones at 4am eastern week days

As previously announced, two back-to-back episodes of The Flinstones will air weeknights at 6PM | 5C beginning September 30 on MeTV.

more changes on the way — and they're coming in two weeks

Effective Labor Day, September 2, get your early mornings started with a tall glass of milk, as lactose-loving detective Barnaby Jones joins the schedule, weekdays at 4AM | 3C. The hit 1970s series marked a comeback for former Beverly Hillbillies star Buddy Ebsen. The father-daughter crime series also featured erstwhile Catwoman Lee Meriwether as Betty Jones.

Barnaby Jones is trailed by Broderick Crawford in Highway Patrol at 5AM | 4C.

On Saturdays, our weekend Westerns get off to an earlier start with the addition of Bat Masterson at 7AM | 6C. Gene Barry portrayed the real-life dandy, a gambler and lawman who roamed the West charming women and defending the unjustly accused. His primary weapon was his wit and cane rather than his gun.

Elsewhere on the new MeTV Fall 2019 lineup, The Jeffersons move on up to Sundays at 10PM | 9C. Plus, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the original 1959–64 classic, Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone returns to weeknights at 12:30AM | 11:30C and double dose on Sundays at 12AM | 11C.

The fun begins on Labor Day!

Oh most certainly! And The Jeffersons should replace Hogan’s Heroes and give it the boot! But we know that won’t happen with their dumb contracts and ratings.

Yes, there is a copy of the schedule effective 9/2 on their website. The Three Stooges are staying.

Maybe the success of that is what led to The Flintstones.

Boy, those “new” episodes of “The Carol Burnett Show” sure didn’t last long. Carol herself always used to say that the later episodes (the ones used for the “Carol Burnett & Friends” package) were better anyhow.

I guess they’re only going to cycle through the Carol Burnett show episodes once for now. I was recording them but missed about the first 10-15 episodes. They’re airing the second half of season 5 now. I was hoping they would restart with season 1 so I could pick up the eps I missed but it looks like they’ll be just finishing season 5 in time for Sept 2.

they may be going to show all seasons 1st before they cycle over again as the Carol Burnett & Friends is season 6 so they may cycle over again after season 11 of carol burnett and friends then go back to Carol Burnett show season 1-5 then Carol Burnett show and Friends season 6-11

Even with all the complaints of there being too many westerns, the schedule is still by far mostly dominated by sitcoms and dramas. Personally I think MeTV has a pretty good mix and I love my westerns just as I love my dramas and sci-fi.

Feel free to check my math but this is what I'm seeing how their schedule breaks down--

Weekdays:
9.5 hrs - Crime/Mystery (40%)
9 hrs - Sitcoms/Comedy (37%)
4 hrs - Western (17%)
1.5 hrs - Thriller (6%)

Weekends:
16 hrs - Sitcoms/Comedy (33%) <-- Saved by the Bell included here
11 hrs - Sci-fi (23%)
11 hrs - Western (23%)
7 hrs - Mystery/Thriller (15%)
3 hrs - E/I (6%)

Too2muchtv

You may be right, I guess it'll be about a 6 month wait then!

The release reference to Barnaby Jones:

"The hit 1970s series marked a comeback for former Beverly Hillbillies star Buddy Ebsen".

comeback?

Matlock was the comeback series for Andy Griffith, Diagnosis Murder was the comeback series for Dick Van Dyke but Barnaby Jones was Buddy Ebsen's next series. He was on the Beverly Hillbillies through the 70-71 TV season (concluding a 9 year run)and returned with his next series in the 72-73 season (midseason), he wasn't away long enough for it to be a comeback.

With so many complete series of classic TV shows having been released on DVD, I'm surprised that these retro TV channels still have a fairly large audience. I guess not everyone buys DVD's. I'm a DVD buyer/collector and I have DVD's of most of my favorite shows so I seldom watch the retro channels anymore.

The thing that annoys me most about MeTV and these other retro channels is the crap they pull with the programs, they edit them and time compress/speed them up so they can fit in more and more commercials. And then of course there's Antenna TV with their infamous credit crunches, I'm not a fan of those either but learned to live with it.

DVD's aren't always perfect, sometimes episodes are edited, usually because of music reasons, but I still prefer to watch DVD's instead of the retro channels.

I’m also surprised that 77 Sunset Strip isn’t on DVD as I’ve always enjoyed it and my mom is a big fan of it. I went ahead and bought Barnaby Jones on DVD as it hasn’t been on any channel that I can pick up. It’s true that after Season 1 they are syndicated prints and don’t look all that hot. Similar to Cannon on DVD only Cannon isn’t edited. I figure they’ll never restore Barnaby Jones so I bought it. I’m tired of MASH and Hogan’s Heroes myself but I figure they’re bringing in revenue dollars and that’s what matters most in any business.

With "The Jeffersons" moving to Sundays at the beginning of the month, what will be airing from 6 to 7 p.m. for four weeks, leading up to the debut of "The Flintstones"? I enjoy watching "Mama's Family" on MeTV, though I do own the series on DVD, so not a total loss.

According to the MeTV schedule, effective 9/2 Mama's Family and the Jeffersons are still on at 6 and 6:30. What we don't know is what happens to Mama's Family after the Flintstones takes over these slots. My guess is that it's dropped/expired. I guess the Jeffersons goes to a weekly showing at 10 pm on Sundays, which as of 9/2 is an additional showing until the Flintstones starts.

If there is a link about Diff. Strokes and FOL could you post it? It's interesting news and would leave an hour and a half hole in MeTV's schedule. Diff. Strokes has never been a winner for Antenna TV, IMO. (edit: sorry hadn't seen the other thread yet)

I agree. It’s more of a nighttime show for me. I wish it was on at night.

Me too. I wish it was on from 6 until 8 PM.

MeTV is currently showing season 5 episodes of Diffrent Strokes, it looks like at the rate of 5 per week they will just about be through the end of all 8 seasons by year end, assuming Me has the rights through then. So I guess that's the last we've seen of the earlier better seasons on a decent network, the later seasons were really bad, especially season 8.

Yeah, the show was really past its prime by season 8. The reduced budget didn’t help, because it meant that it was rare that all the cast appeared in the same episode.

Thanks for posting that schedule, stevea- I had only seen the fall sched showing "Flintstones" in the slot effective 9/30. They could always put "Mama's Family" in a slot that "Facts of Life"/"Different Strokes" had, though that would be too early for me to watch. :)

TBS used to show Mama, I think at 5 and 5:30 am, so that would probably work. TBS showed it in that slot for several years.

Re the later years of Diff. Strokes: yeah season 8 is really sub-par. Mary Ann Mobley was a good actress but she wasn't right for the Maggie part. She did her best with the Sam kidnapping but it was such a poor script there was no hope. The only good thing was the update opening sequence. The old one was was kind of stale after several seasons where the only changes were snippets of different scenes.

I know many people disliked the Sam character but he didn't bother me except when he tried to sing.

While i am happy about the flintstones joining the lineup but i was still hoping it would've been star trek the animated series instead ever since it was removed from H&i's lineup

And I'm glad Barnaby Jones is finally coming to me-tv hadn't seen it since 2017 and before i could watch it again my local cbs affiliate dropped decades from the market in 2018 and I always wanted Bat Masterson to be on me-tv now finally it is, and excited about Highway Patrol being back

The star trek the animated series is available on Netflix and Amazon Prime and CBS all access steaming service and I don't think H & I or MeTV no longer have rights to that Series no more.

It is, because I just looked at the other local station that’s located in Boston and they are also preempting it as well.

Not many changes on 9/30.

The Flintstones at 6/6:30P, replacing Mama's Family and the Jeffersons. This means the Jeffersons is only on Sunday now and Mama's Family is gone.

No other changes to weekdays.

On Sundays, Saved by the Bell moves to 7A for 3 hours replacing Mystery Hunters, Bill Nye and Beakman's World, all of which are gone.

10A-12P on Sundays is now The Flintstones.

No other changes.

Prettty bad if you ask me. Only one showing a week for the Jeffersons? That is just unacceptable for a show that ran 11 seasons. And Flinstones on Sunday morning. That’s a terrible time. I wish they could have had them on at night.

Still wishes MeTV would pony up for HOLLYWOOD SQUARES (Marshall), since they haven't been shown since 2004.

Besides, wouldn't Paul Lynde/George Gobel/Charley Weaver etc. be a good complement for CB&F?

Currently on Sunday’s 10AM-12pm is Saved By The Bell.

Perhaps the reason why the change is maybe Me TV will not need to carry anymore E/I Programming.

If I were Me TV I would of Removed The Facts Of Life & Diff’rent Strokes so they are Fresh when they start on Antenna TV in January 2020.

Here is what I Would suggest to Me TV for its Fall Changes 2019...

Monday’s-Friday’s
5:30AM Hogan’s Heroes (Replace The Facts Of Life)
6AM Mama’s Family (Replace The Facts Of Life)
6:30AM Mama’s Family (Replace The Diff’rent Strokes)

10:30pm The Jefferson’s (Replace Hogan’s Heroes)

Saturday’s
5AM-7AM Saved By The Bell (Replace Petticoat & Beverly Hillbillies)

Sunday’s
7AM-8AM Saved By The Bell
8AM-9AM Petticoat Junction
9AM-10AM The Beverly Hillbillies
10AM-11AM Gilligan’s Island
11AM-1pm The Brady Bunch
1pm-3pm Leave It To Beaver
3pm-5pm The Flintstones
5pm-6pm The Monkee’s
6pm-7pm The Love Boat
7pm-8pm MASH
8pm-10pm Columbo
10pm Mama’s Family
10:30pm Carol Burnett
11pm-12AM The Dick Van Dyke Show

The FCC recently changed the rules for E/I programming, the biggest of which is diginets on subchannels don't have to show them any more. However, the FCC is allowing main (dot-1) channels to shift some E/I programming to subchannels, so some of the diginets may have scheduled programming pre empted locally with E/I programming, at least that's my understanding of it.

Boy, those “new” episodes of “The Carol Burnett Show” sure didn’t last long. Carol herself always used to say that the later episodes (the ones used for the “Carol Burnett & Friends” package) were better anyhow.

You didn't miss much. The audence questions. Introduction of Lyle Waggner, a sister sketch, 15 minutes of comercials and then the ending. All the musical numbers were cut out.
