I was looking through the season 11 episode guide from the season Law and Order aired before Law and Order: Criminal Intent premiered on September 30, 2001. None of the episode descriptions mention introducing Bobby Goren and the Major Case Squad. Did they not appear on the original before the spin-off launched?

I was looking through the season 11 episode guide from the season Law and Order aired before Law and Order: Criminal Intent premiered on September 30, 2001. None of the episode descriptions mention introducing Bobby Goren and the Major Case Squad. Did they not appear on the original before the spin-off launched?


I could be wrong but I don't recall any tie-in episode being done to introduce the new series. Of course it was branded by its name so the producers may not have felt the need to launch the series from Law and Order. The producers tossed Law and Order in a blender with Columbo and out came Law and Order Criminal Intent.
