A revival of the hit Nickelodeon boarding school-set teen series, which aired from 2005 to 2008, would focus on Spears' Zoey Brooks a decade after the events of the series finale, TMZ reports. Zoey 101 would be the latest classic Nick series to get a second life. "First, we're told the premise of the show would follow Zoey's life in SoCal ten years later at the age of 28 -- only this time, she'd have a couple of kids in the mix," reports TMZ. "Unclear if she'd have a partner or not, or if she's still involved with her character's longtime love interest, Chase. However, our sources tell us this would be 'Zoey with an edge' ... whatever that means." Spears, 28, gave birth to her first child at age 17 one month after the Zoey 101 finale aired.

Jamie Lynn confirmed to the outlet that a reboot was in the works for Zoey 101 prior to the coronavirus pandemic but explained that conversations have slowed due to the crisis.

'It's just [hard during] quarantine and all this stuff,' she said. 'I think putting everyone's safety first is what we are trying to do right now.'

Jamie Lynn starred in the Nickelodeon comedy as Zoey Brooks, a teen who enrolled and in previously all-boys boarding school in California.

The potential Zoey 101 reboot would presumably see the star reprise her role as the titular character with her daughter Maddie playing her at the same age she was when the show initially filmed.

'I think we are still having the conversations and figuring out how to tell the story in a way that is going to do it justice, because we want it to be good,' Jamie Lynn said.

Adding: 'We want it to relate to the fans. That's why the show worked in the first place, because we connected to our fans and where they were in their life.

'So we want to make sure we find a home and the best story to tell.'
