Of course we know the series went to hell and a handbasket (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031125158/http://www.jumptheshark.com/g/goodtimes.htm) when they killed off James (DAMN DAMN DAMN!) but were there a few episodes that you could watch every now and then?

Who is "We" :p
I am probably in minority here, but IMO Goodtimes never jumped the shark even after James left...or Florida for that matter. There were many hilarious episodes in fourth, fifth ad sixth seasons.
When James left, JJ quit acting like a clown and I think he came to his own. And carry most of the show thru the sixth season. It also gave other cast of show such as Michael, Thelma and Bookman more role and acting part.
And the writing stayed pretty solid thru the sixth season.
