View Full Version : My favorite New Lewave it to Beaver moment
LITB4life 06-16-2002, 11:17 PM There was an episode where Beavers kid had a conflict with Judy Henslers kid. Beaver went to Judy's house to straighten out the problem and it was so funny to see all these years later that their feelings for each other had not changed at all. I wish someone had the dialogue to that conversation because Beaver had a classic line in that spat.
Christopher Powers 09-01-2003, 12:27 PM The show was great, I loved watching it and seeing where the characters had gone after the original series & how they stayed the same or changed over the years... The 2nd show was well written but there were a couple of stinker episodes.
The worse was the clone show..where they parody the future & show a clones of one of the suns (fuzzy memory as I haven't seen the show, I want to say it was Kevin that was cloned)..
junecleaver 09-05-2003, 08:44 PM i'm sooo upset i haven't been able to see this show!:livid: :cuss: :soapbox: :wallbang
Commander Benson 09-08-2003, 07:09 AM I haven't seen a great many episodes of The New Leave It to Beaver, so there could have been other fine moments, but one of the most poignant moments I have ever seen in any show came from the Still the Beaver pilot.
This was the sequence where Ward's funeral is shown. There is no dialogue. The scenes, which occurred on a rainy day, take place against a voice-over of Ward's reading the Beaver's "Most Interesting Character" composition (from the original series), accompanied by the sentimental background theme music.
This was masterful moment in--to be frank--an otherwise pedestrian effort. It is impossible to watch this sequence without developing a huge lump in the throat.
Mark B. 09-12-2003, 10:48 AM Agreed Commander,
This is what got me hooked on the whole LITB thing- old and new. This treatment of the characters by STB's writers really gave the show depth and a 'real' feeling. I thought it was a bold step to introduce that kind of drama into the sitcom world of the Cleavers instead of just recasting Ward. Say what you want about the New Beaver series, but the (re)creaters of the show really treated the lore of the series with a respect and love. It came through in the show consistantly.
I suppose this was an extention of what LITB had become- a well loved part of our culture.
Artfiore1 06-15-2004, 10:15 AM Hi all,
I'm not sure if this really happened. I seem to have a vague recollection of a really nice scene that was kind of touching -- a scene in which Wally was alone singing his newborn baby son to sleep. And, the song Wally sang to the baby was "The Toy Parade," which was the "Leave It To Beaver" theme song.
Can anyone tell me that this really did occur and that I didn't dream it or something?
If so, that was my favorite moment.

HaskellGirl 06-16-2004, 03:58 PM Art, that scene really happened. It was so sweet!
Artfiore1 06-16-2004, 04:25 PM HaskellGirl,
Thank you very much for the confirmation. I hope I can see that show again someday.

I never got to see either of those STB,TNLITB series darn it.
After reading these posts,I would really like to see them some day.
I wasn't the biggest LITB fan at the time they were on I guess, like I am nowadays.
I hope TV-Land shows them soon.
It's not fair that they should keep these gems from the viewing public.
Lets hope they air them soon gang.
Does anyone have Nick/TV-Land's snail-mail addy? I have been trying to call them in NY,but it's always busy when I do. I got their number from my Cable Company
(1-800-964-6425)
I wanted to ask them directly, what it would take to get all of those old series back on tv again.
ie: 'Still The Beaver',and 'TNLITB',etc.
I e-mailed Jerry Mathers last week.
I am still waiting for his reply on these very subjects.
I hope he does.
I believe...'The squeeky wheel gets the grease'!
Maybe if a lot of us call or write the stars and TVLand, they'll honor our request, huh?
I'll keep trying, and hope many of you will also.

Good luck with this.
TV Land has so many different shows right now and so many others that they're working on obtaining. There simply are not enough hours in the day to fill with all of the shows that a significant enough number of fans would call or write in about to make an impression. The wagon with *all* sqweaky wheels doesn't go anywhere.
They will most likely thank you for calling, but tell you that they are not licensed to show "The New Leave It To Beaver" at this time, hinting they may possibly have it in the future. I went through the procedure recently over a single episode of "Bonanza" which I have been dying to see again for nearly 32 years . . . only to find out that it's not one of the episodes included in their license agreement.
They'll thank you for tuning in, though.

Yeah, I guess you're right Art.
Too much RED TAPE. Bummer! lol
Good luck finding your eppie of Bonanza.
HaskellGirl 06-18-2004, 10:15 PM Its hard to pick just one favorite moment of the show, but one of my favorites was the episode where they had a 16th birthday party for Freddie, and he wanted to invite his grandfather, who he never met, since George Haskell and Eddie stopped talking so many years ago. The scene at the end was so bittersweet when George just couldn't accept Eddie for who he is. Later, Eddie tells his son that "You can't change the past" and Freddie says "I guess you can't change people either". It was very poignant and heartbreaking, but still touching to see the love between Eddie and his son.
JudgeGarth 06-18-2004, 11:22 PM Sorry that this is off-topic to the rest of you, but, Art, what is the episode of Bonanza that you're looking for? The Hallmark Channel has the so-called "lost episodes" that used to be on the Family Channel. They even have the three episodes that the Family Channel refused to show because they were considered unsuitable.
Artfiore1 06-19-2004, 01:24 AM Yes, forgive me, folks for this off-topic continuation.
JudgeGarth,
Thank you for the reply. It's episode No. 425 or 426 -- "The Sound Of Sadness." And, it's my understanding that if any channel would have it, it's The Hallmark Channel. It seems both TV Land and PAX show the first 260 episodes of "Bonanza" only, while Hallmark has the other 170. Naturally, Hallmark is the only one of those three channels that I *don't* have. Don't even know anybody who has it.

EmpressDR 12-25-2006, 01:30 AM There was an episode where Beavers kid had a conflict with Judy Henslers kid. Beaver went to Judy's house to straighten out the problem and it was so funny to see all these years later that their feelings for each other had not changed at all. I wish someone had the dialogue to that conversation because Beaver had a classic line in that spat.
I recall her telling him to leave, "before the neighbors think we're having an affair!" I can't recall his exact retort, though.
I had always wondered what Beaver's high school years might be like, with his female nemesis. WOULD there be an attempt at dating? If it was a series then, it might've included that sort of storyline.
How old was he when the original ended? 14 or 15?
Since I began watching when the show was in its last years, that's how I was introduced to Beaver --as a young teen, and wondered why so many kvetched about him getting older? He and the show was good throughout the series.
RE the comment another poster made about Wally's lullaby:
Wally was singing the title song to his DAUGHTER Kelly, he didn't have a son in the pilot film. Later they aged Kelly to make her the same age as Beaver's son, Oliver. I can't recall --did they give Kelly a younger brother? And then did they put that scene into one of the series episodes? I think yes, as a flashback ep.
Artfiore1 12-25-2006, 05:52 AM EmpressDR,
I'm pretty sure it was his baby boy that Wally sang the song to, not Kelly. Later on in the series, Wally and Mary Ellen had a son. That much I'm sure of. I think his name may have been Kevin.

Mark B. 01-02-2007, 12:33 AM In the pilot movie Wally and Mary Ellen were having trouble conceiveing thier first child. By the end of the movie, they had a new-born son named Ward. When the series started, it was changed to daughter Kelly, 10 years old already.
In the season 2 episode 'Birth Announcement', Kevin was born. This episode is the one in which Wally sang 'toy parade'.

Coronaboy 03-22-2007, 04:16 PM I had a few favorite moments in the show.
-The one where Wally is singing to Kevin the day they bring him home.
-Kip and Freddie (or was it Eddie Jr?) hanging out and sing that song "Bomb the Prom" because they were both without a date. Only to find out that Freddie's date ended up happening and Kip screaming at him.
-The episode where Kelly was falling for one of Eddie's kids, I forget who it was, but didn't they let her down easy and tell her they were 2 totally different people? I think she fell for him, when he stood up for her after some kids gave her a hard time.... it's been so long. :(
webster1980stvshow 04-24-2008, 02:20 AM I got a few episodes of this show of a person from this site (great trader 10/10 and quality was great and with menus on DVDs) My favorite episodes were 2 of them. 'Bad Poetry' where a little girl cons kelly for being her friend, and 'Material Girl' the little rich kid convinces Kelly to start her own t-shirt business but only to find out it fails. They are very cute and funny episodes the little girl who plays the rich spoiled little kid is no other than little Heather O' Rourke (plays the little girl Carol Ann from the Poltergeist Movies). She is the best child actress ever and what a sweet, bright and wonderful little girl she was. Just a tragic that she died only as a child (12).
JeanniesModParty 12-27-2011, 10:39 AM Cool thread! I missed a lot of the shows so I don't remember half of these listed...it's nice to be able to read about them! I'd love to see the one about Eddie & his dad:)
