I tried multiple times yesterday to reach the forum, the main page, & the blog but ALL said "this site no longer exists" or something similar to that!

So wasn't the board down yesterday for a while? How much longer has this URL been paid for/reserved?

I was shocked yesterday when this happened and I don't know why Sitcoms Online did this? I had been trying to view Sitcoms Online and that message came up and my first thought had been that Sitcoms Online was hacked. But at least we members should've been told about this. But i'm very happy that Sitcoms Online works today

But the site was mysteriously down 2 days ago for some of us! I thought maybe the admin suddenly shut down the site for some reason.

Sometimes websites do disappear overnight just like how businesses can disappear overnight!

It was offline for about 8 hours because our hosting company's data center had a power outage. I couldn't even access their website to fill out a trouble ticket. Their entire network was down.

It's a lot of work to keep it online at times and running smoothly. There are many factors which can cause it to run slowly. All I can do most times is fill out a trouble ticket to get it fixed.

The domain is renewed from year to year. I would like to keep it online for as long as possible. 20 years has been a pretty good run so far.

You will give us some type of a warning if you ever decide to take it down right? But you will try to keep this going indefinitely? You thought of raising funds from members if needed? Do you have another admin to hand this over to when you're no longer here?

IMDB had a hugely successful message board but they gave around a 6 month warning that they would shut down on 2/20/2017 & unfortunately they did!

Yeah, but how long are they planning to keep this site alive? I thought if there was a plan of succession Sitcoms Online could continue indefinitely.

Just so you know, your and Janice's efforts are very appreciated. I can imagine what a big job it is keeping this afloat, and MANY THANKS for doing it.

I was amazed that this site was still afloat because it was close to dead in 2010 to 2014:lol:

So it has made a slight comeback

Facebook and Twitter was brand new and became very popular between 2009 and 2014 and a lot of the members on this site who were regulars between 2002 and 2008 left the site and then it became inactive. So around 2014 the site started to make a small comeback and then was able to stay afloat and now is still in existence.

This was the only site I came to everyday from 2002 to 2008 LOL The administrator would suspend me for 3 days sometime and I would be depressed because at the time it was the HOTTEST SITE on the internet. I would rush home from work so I could come to this website lool

That can't be right unless maybe you're just talking about the "Chit Chat" forum. I know you posted on sitcomsonline quite a bit between 2009 and 2014.

Not that much because I became so addicted to City Data during that time which led to me getting fired lol If I had stayed on this site I would probably still be on that job as I type you this message lol

What other choice was there then to suspend you? You were wild and out of control many times back in those days. You would regularly launch personal attacks against anybody who disagreed with you or that you thought posted "stupid" opinions. You were lucky that you were never banned like other forums did. I gave you a much longer leash than most people because I knew how much activity you brought to the boards. You've become more mature and friendly on here in recent years. I guess those suspensions paid off eventually. I think you realized you can't run people off here anymore.

LOL, Nope I am more calm now. I remember begging you not to suspend me and you was like.........."just go watch some DVD's for a few days and then come back ready to follow the rules":lol::lol::lol:

You can always check is a website is down just for you or everyone at https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/

If I was ever in a position to no longer maintain the site, it would be my wish that a family member would help continue it with Pavan and Janice if they wanted to continue to be involved with it. The site could remain online indefinitely as long as the operating costs are paid and daily maintenance is performed.

We asked for donations one time back in 2005. One of the things we bought then was the photo gallery software, which we are still using today. I would ask for donations again before shutting it down.

We were never truly dead. Social media hurt us like it did many forums. We always have had a good core group of members. It only really takes a few hundred active members to make things look busy.

I feel like we are on the verge of a comeback. Switching to https will help since more people will be able to find us in the search engines. Once people find the site, I think they usually fall in love with it and will stick around for a while.
