Did anyone else notice this? Last night I'm watching "Success Story" and was appaled that the version that TV Land is showing is not the original. In that scene where Davy goes and wanders around the beach, the song is supposed to be "I Wanna Be Free," but the version we saw the song was "Shades of Gray," which hadn't even come out when the episode did.

I've seen both versions of that & wondered why they changed the songs. They changed the songs in so many episodes, it's hard to remember which ones were origiional & which weren't. There an epsiode where one of the songs got changed to MIDNITE TRAIN a tune without Mike & Peter cuz that was their latest song at the time...

Really? I can't believe they can even get away with that!!!????
And to think, I was beginning to idolize TV Land for bringing back the original animated openings of I Love Lucy!

If you'll notice, several of the shows have different songs listed in the closing credits than what is shown. Screen Gems airs success story with "Shades of Gray" instead of "I Wanna Be Free", also. However, Screen Gems cut out the whole bit where the monkees wake up in the barn in "Gift Horse", whereas TV Land showed it, and in "Ghost Town", they cut out the bit where Mike and Davy have their little showdown, and Tv Land showed it. We just can't win. Even the Rhino videos have inconsistencies, from what I've heard.

You're right- we can't win. There is no network that we can count on. If you want to get the original uncut, unedited version of any sitcom these days (except "I Love Lucy", I think), you have to buy it on video or DVD.
