When you were growing up did you ever have favorite toys that you liked to play with a lot when you were a child and what toy did you love the most of all your playthings? My favorite toy was my PJ Sparkles doll and she was the most amazing doll that had a light up heart on her belly that glowed when you pressed her belly and I loved that doll to pieces and would go with me on almost every vacation I took and I still have my PJ Sparkles doll packed away in my childhood toys. I also played with Barbie dolls and baby dolls too

I liked playing with my Barbie dolls, I had Barbie, Skipper & Francie. I had a carrying case for them and their outfits. I always wanted her car and house but never got them. Too expensive when there was three kids in the household to buy for.

Dolls, mainly ragdolls and stuffed animals :)

Baby dolls that looked realistic and a toy baby carriage that I would push them around in, also I gave my cats rides in the baby carriages too till they got annoyed and jumped out! :D

I had a really nice big doll house that I loved. :)

I loved coloring books, story books and paper dolls :)

I always loved board games , Candy Land, shoots and Ladders , The Game of Life, Monopoly , etc. , ;)

My Brother is 5 years older than me, I'm thinking he came in at the tail end of Hot wheels ,meaning he was getting older when they came in? Cause I remember them a little bit in our house , but I really remember them more with friends who were boys from the neighborhood who were closer to my age ! But totally Matchbox cars, I really remember them !!Also he had a Foozeball table ( way before Chandler & Joey from Friends made it famous) :D And I totally remember playing with him a game called " Battling tops" that he had ! It was a board game of sorts, but with tops that you wound up and it was basically battling in like a boxing ring type of thing? That was fun!! Anyone remember this game? ;)

My Brother perhaps had Hussler mags?? That I don't know, if so they were safely hidden under his mattress I guess ?:cool::wave:

One of my most beloved Christmas gifts that I got when I was a little girl that I loved to play with a lot was my Playskool Dollhouse that came out in 1991 and I had always liked it because it looked amazing with the musical nursery and so I begged for it for Christmas and prayed for it and I guess I was like Kevin Costner in the movie Field Of Dreams when he heard the phrase "if you build it they will come" because on Christmas Morning after I had opened up my gifts Mom had called me over to the Christmas tree and I was just resting and enjoying my presents because I was recovering from a surgery I had and so even though I was still weak Mom had carried me to the Christmas tree and I saw something amazing and I had opened a huge box and then my prayers had been answered when I had finally got my Playskool Dollhouse and I still have it today in my storage locker and that dollhouse is special to me because it was my very first dollhouse. Although the original family that goes with the dollhouse is now packed away in my childhood toys my action figures now live in it. If you never seen the Playskool Dollhouse I advise you to check it out because it's amazing

That's very touching Bestie, and reminded me of a quote from Charlotte Brontė's Jane Eyre:

I then sat with my doll on my knee till the fire got low, glancing round occasionally to make sure that nothing worse than myself haunted the shadowy room; and when the embers sank to a dull red, I undressed hastily, tugging at knots and strings as I best might, and sought shelter from cold and darkness in my crib. To this crib I always took my doll; human beings must love something, and, in the dearth of worthier objects of affection, I contrived to find a pleasure in loving and cherishing a faded graven image, shabby as a miniature scarecrow. It puzzles me now to remember with what absurd sincerity I doated on this little toy, half fancying it alive and capable of sensation. I could not sleep unless it was folded in my night-gown; and when it lay there safe and warm, I was comparatively happy, believing it to be happy likewise.

I always loved playing with my Barbies and other fashion dolls and when I played with my Barbies Mom and I would always dress them up in clothing from an old suitcase that stored my Barbie fashions and if you gave me Barbies I was very entertained. Once I grew out of Barbies I started playing with stuffed animals and I have like a dozen of them today and my stuffed animals never left my side when I didn't feel well or when I would go on vacations and there's something about stuffed animals that makes me content. Another toy that was my favorite was doll styling heads and I used to love making new hairstyles for my styling heads and practiced being a hair stylist a lot and I would even borrow my mother's curling iron and me and Mom would put curls on my styling head too
Did you ever have a doll styling head?

Star Wars action figures - I think I only had about 10 or 15 of these as a kid, but I always wanted more, and was a little jealous that the kids on my block had many more than me. We couldn't afford more. So, as an adult, I collected all 88 of the original series.

Legos - These were so fun for a kid to build.

My neighbors' son had that same G.I. Joe you've pictured. I remember he put some red Close-Up toothpaste on him to simulate blood...!

I just now saw the Battling Tops game shown earlier in this thread. That's exactly the one we had, from the '70s. My brother and I had our favorite tops (names on round stickers) -- one was a red one. A few of them broke and we super-glued them back together. The game I think was reissued decades later.

Yep!! Battling tops ROCKED ! And my Brother who is 5 years older than me, we were able to bond over this game ! :) usually he didn't have much time for a pesty much younger little Sister! :(

Yeah, the stickers with the names on them! I remember Dizzy Dan ? I'm pretty sure that was one of them?! ;) It was funny at my young age , I was over a neighbors house and they had Battling tops too, the names were on different colored tops than were on ours !! I didn't understand at the time that my Brother and this neighbor put the stickers on themselves!! I thought they already came named with the stickers already on!! :D

Like AMackII I also had Mega Blocks and for Christmas I got a Mega Blocks dollhouse and it was the most amazing dollhouse that even had Mega Blocks figures that changed from children to adults and an elevator that actually was too small for them that ended up breaking but my mother and my grandmother put it together for me and I think my stepgrandfather helped because he read the assembly instructions and told my mother and grandmother where each piece went in the dollhouse. I also had a Mega Blocks shopping mall too that I adored too. My other favorite playset was a playset called Melanie's Mall and it was a neat playset that was a shopping mall that came with a doll about the size of a Dawn doll named Melanie and Melanie's Mall was such an amazing playset and mine came with a working water fountain and lots more props and the shops you had to purchase separately to expand Melanie's Mall that came with other dolls in the Melanie's Mall series. If you get the chance look for a commercial of the Melanie's Mall playset on Youtube and you'll see for yourself why I liked it a lot. I also played with action figures and I had Batman Returns figures and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figures and I played with GI Joe figures with my cousin and whenever the GI Joes would stay in my dollhouse it was not uncommon to see GI Joe as a butler or Batman being a crush of Barbie in my dollhouse. Sometimes my cousin and I would make up soap operas and stories with our action figures too

Does anyone remember when Johnny Lightning cars were all the rage? Johnny Lightning cars were the next popular toys next to Hot Wheels and almost every boy had some. I bet many of you have the Johnny Lightning Double Trouble car that's rare today because it was a 1970 promotion with Cheerios and you had to send away for the car by mailing Cheerios package seals and the Double Trouble was the coolest of all the Johnny Lightning cars of the 70's line

Fond memories of this. Haunted House board game. Probably the first thing I bought by myself as a kid (went to a neighborhood garage sale by myself and bought it)

Sadly it was one of many board games we got rid of in my youth due to lost pieces. Bummer as it's something my daughter would have enjoyed when she was younger.

Did you ever have Jody The Country Girl Doll? She was a wonderful doll that was made by Ideal in the 70's and had different playsets including her very own general store playset and her country kitchen where you could make your Jody doll "cook" her pioneer inspired meals. I bet Food Network and Ree Drummond got the idea to do The Pioneer Woman from Jody The Country Girl Doll. The commercials for the Jody The Country Girl doll were so nice and cute but i'll discuss more about the commercials in the Commercials forum

Was your Little People farm the playset that when you opened the barn doors the doors would "moo" like a cow? I do remember that playset because when I was in preschool we had that playset and it was cute. Another toy that I had in my preschool was Alphie but he never worked because when my teacher got Alphie it had no batteries and the cards were missing. But Alphie was a popular toy that taught preschoolers their ABC's and numbers and was very advanced for it's time. In the 90's they made a new Alphie but it wasn't as good as the original
