Or to be more specific, when (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/DorkAge/TelevisionNetworks) Shake It Up! premiered. Before that, Disney's sitcoms such as Wizards of Waverly Place were admittedly, fun and well-written guilty pleasures. But the sitcoms that transpired from 2010 onward, were decidedly more cringeworthy and dumb (Dog with a Blog is a good example) as opposed to funny. Also, the tone of the series became increasingly mean-spirited and vapid.

I loved Dog With a Blog, but I think the shows have definitely gone downhill. My absolute favorite was Good Luck Charlie but after it ended, the station wasn't the same. I loved Shake It Up and Wizards and there was a time for a while when the Disney Channel was the only thing my husband and I would watch b/c we loved the shows.
