Yeah the topic sounds pretty stupid, but I'm getting my tonsils out on Monday. Anyone who's been through this want to tell me what it's like afterwards?

i haven't gotten em out. but, you get loads of ice cream afterwards. good luck. :D

I haven't had them out, but my mom has. She said it hurt a little but it's no bid deal. After it feels like a little sore throat......Good luck :)

Well, I had them out when I was 4. I was only out of school for like, 3 days, but it was only because my throat hurt a lot. Also, I threw up after it...but....ya know, I'm weird, so I doubt you'll throw up lol.


And you can really only swallow soft foods for about a week, applesauce, mashed potatoes, milkshakes, etc.

My mom got hers out. She says she got lots of ice cream and gifts afterwards.
Also, this kid I used to know ahd his out and his mom said that like the night after his surgery he was already eating pizza! So, i guess it won't be too bad.

Yeah ditto to what everyone said....my friend got 'em out and she said lotsa popsicles and stuff... GOOD LUCK!

I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled this summer and i'm REALLY freaked out omg.

Well then I'm different. I had mine out the summer before 5th grade. I could not swallow or eat or drink for a week. I got dehydrated and almost passed out. It hurt like hell to me. Not at all the ,"You get to eat ice cream and jello all day."

My experience was horrible. LOL. Hope yours isn't!

I haven't had mine out either. I wish you the best of luck though.

Nah....don't worry about it. I haven't had my wisdom teeth out, and I doubt I'll ever hafta because they aren't taking much room up now, but I had 4 teeth pulled this past April...but I had them done in the OR because they were impacted in my gum...really, it only hurts for a little while. But stick to soft food

OK, thanks for that. I'll try not to worry. I've never had teeth out before and it just scares me...I can't stand pain.

5 in the morning?!? How yucky!!! I hate hospitals too omg....they freak me out and so do doctors!! I can't explain lol...they just do.

well, i had mine out when i was 9...and my nurse was really mean, like afterwards she wanted me to drink some sprite, but i didn't want to, i was crying (come on, i was a little kid!) and i was wanting my momma and daddy and the bitch goes "Listen Kid, if you don't drink this, you ain't gonna ever see your mom and dad again...the doctor won't let you" goa, i cried and cried! finally the doctor came in and was like "Let the child see her parents" ohh, i hope that biatch got fired!

ugg...... but the actualy operation isn't a problem, your doped up and off to bed during the whoel thing...you won't be able to talk for a while though

Amen to that! I got mine taken out the summer before 6th grade.... I couldn't eat or drink anything. My mom took me to the doctor and he told me I was dehydrated and that he was gonna put an IV in me if I didn't drink...so she bought like 2 24oz bottles of water and made me drink them...ugh worse thing I have ever done. Then she paid me to eat popsicles.

I couldn't eat or drink for 2 weeks. I was in pain for two weeks. I think like I drank like 2 or 3 oz. water or gatorade during the 2 weeks. It was horrible.

Yea I drank Powerade too! After the pain finally went away, I felt like I was gonna puke every time I ate or drank anything.
