Mel's apartment was always a pigsty, HOW did he get away with keeping it so messy?! Most all apartments I know have a housekeeping standard, and get inspected.

Chocolate Moose 06-30-2019, 08:06 PM i have never heard that and i work in real estate in NYC. TheLittleFaerie 07-01-2019, 02:59 PM I live in an apartment and they have inspections, and here the way his was would NOT fly lol TVFactFan 07-04-2019, 08:29 PM i have never heard that and i work in real estate in NYC. Me either  Now I do try and make my place look presentable when I am informed Pest control will be arriving on a certain day or if maintenance coming through but to have someone come to inspect your place sound  TheLittleFaerie 07-05-2019, 01:04 PM Me either  Now I do try and make my place look presentable when I am informed Pest control will be arriving on a certain day or if maintenance coming through but to have someone come to inspect your place sound  I know where I live they will always give a notice for their annual inspections like, "Make sure all trash is taken out, no dirty dishes in sink, no clothes thrown around, etc..." Bonniegirl 07-05-2019, 02:35 PM When I lived in apts. we had safety inspections to see if the fire detector was working and no gas leeks and stuff like that, but never to check up on a person's housekeeping! IMO I really didn't see Mel's apt as being filthy, more like just messy, typical bachelor apt. that needed to be picked up a little but not really too dirty!;) robyrob 07-05-2019, 02:53 PM Lots of Febreeze Heenan Fan 07-05-2019, 08:54 PM i have never heard that and i work in real estate in NYC. People who work in real estate don't show apartments, that's the job of the apartment manager. I have lived in probably 7 different apartment buildings in my life and every single one of them had an annual inspection by the manager and maintenance man. Also, for some reason, I think the title of this thread is hilarious! Mel was definitely a slob. I liked all the girlie magazines on the floor. But what's with all the damn pizza boxes?! Mel was a chef who owned his own restaurant, but he still had that many pizzas delivered? Odd. I would assume Mel, Alice, Vera, Belle and Jolene all lived in income based places just based on what they likely made at the diner. Flo lived in her own trailer, so I'd imagine she could do whatever she wanted with it. 80s Dude 05-10-2020, 08:24 PM That girl was Felice Schachter who played Nancy on the Facts of Life. I lived in an apartment for over a DECADE & there was never a SINGLE inspection. That's a violation of privacy. Prison cells get inspections not personal residences! The only exception would be if you had a smell coming from the apartment that was SO bad that neighbors complained! TVFactFan 05-14-2020, 09:36 AM I lived in an apartment for over a DECADE & there was never a SINGLE inspection. I'm in the Midwest & lived in 3 different apartment complexes over a DECADE & that NEVER happened even once! It would be considered a violation of privacy. That would only happen if you had some HORRIBLE smell of something emanating from your apartment to the point where neighbors complained or something. I'm that case maintenance would show up not someone from the front office. |
