I happened to see the debut episode of The Love Boat The Next Wave on Youtube this afternoon and I was shocked at what a mess this version of The Love Boat actually was and from the beginning intro of the show it reminded me of a commercial for a cruise line and the terrible cover of The Love Boat theme doesn't help one bit. And as I watched the episode I was surprised that that this version of The Love Boat is a romance/soap opera type of show whereas the original The Love Boat was a sitcom full of humor and fun and almost throughout the episode I watched of The Love Boat The Next Wave seemed to be about the characters having crushes and romance plots. I also couldn't figure out why Robert Urich's character the captain had a teenage son named Danny who almost never did nothing on the ship except to look at girls and was always in trouble and when I saw the scene where Danny hid in his cabin and the captain tried to talk with him it always seemed that Danny was afraid of his father because Danny didn't want his father to know any secrets about him. And I don't know why Danny was put into the show in the first place because he was a character that should not have been there. And even with guest stars couldn't stop this version from getting a second season
