Theda Bara 06-18-2019, 12:50 AM I remember when I found out that our cable provider was adding METV and how thrilled I was, now I couldn't care less.
treky 06-18-2019, 01:36 AM I think ME TV is the best of all the "retro-channels"
DadTheKing 06-18-2019, 03:32 AM Hi, Bestie! You are lucky, I don't get METV yet. But I hope to. Keep me updated on their shows!

AMackII 06-18-2019, 04:09 AM LaBestia, is a good thing you watched METV for the first time in your life.
What are your favorite shows on there Bestie?
Mr. Television 06-18-2019, 10:41 AM It is the best retro channel. It does need to change their schedule up a bit though.

yes, like I said it's the best of ALL the "retro-channels". I wish they'd give MASH a rest though. They've shown it since they first went national 7 years ago and now it's on 5 or 6 other channels. And they've always had i0t weeknights at 7 & 7:30.
PhoenixAcres 06-18-2019, 09:39 PM Glad you found MeTV. It's got a lot of good stuff but it's not what it used to be.
I remember when I discovered it for the first time. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago.
1960'sTVfan 06-18-2019, 10:31 PM If I recall correctly, when MeTV debuted as a retro channel for Chicago back in 2005, the first day they went on the air they showed some retro cartoons. I think one of the cartoons was Rocky and Bullwinkle, maybe Underdog too but it was 14 years ago so I don't remember for sure.
Another thing that I seem to recall, when tuning into the channel prior to the launch date, a "watch this space" message was displayed on the screen.
TSMIV 06-18-2019, 11:44 PM Lucky you! I just lost my MeTV channel and no one can tell me when or if it'll be back.
Hawkee 06-19-2019, 12:14 AM What are your favorite shows on there Bestie?

well, you could always move back into the hotel!

When my husband and I would go to Vegas I loved staying at the Four Seasons in Mandalay Bay mainly because they had Turner Classic Movies and I often wished that I could just move there so I could watch TCM all day.

It is definitely the best of the retro channels considering it doesn’t crunch credits. But it still has its faults. Too many westerns and this whole dumb ratings business keeps the same tired shows in the same spots for many years. It still has lots of great shows but they need better time slots.
Bonniegirl 06-19-2019, 03:13 PM First time I ever saw METV was when I dropped over my friends house for a minute on a Sunday afternoon about 6 years ago or more? Anyway, on the TV was The Mothers in law!! ;)I was all like " OMG , is that the Mothers in law, I haven't seen this in years , what channel is this"? She said METV, they show old shows and proceeded to tell me other shows that were on this channel ! She has DirectV. And I was like Oh wow, I don't think I get this channel, I get another one Antenna that has old shows. She said she didn't get Antenna but wished she did when I told her the Antenna show line up!! :D
So the next day I called my cable company, it is now Spectrum,( I'm drawing a blank what it was called back than)? and they said they didn't carry METV , ahhh shucks !! :( Well to make a long story short, a while later I was channel surfing and came upon it !!! Yay they changed their minds and added it!! :):cool:I really enjoyed it back than, now I still do but it does get repetitive, too much MASH, Andy Griffith and Westerns, but for the most part I really like it. ;)
I really wish they would bring back Mothers in law again!!:)

I think there sister channel Decades has shown THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW a couple times on there weekend binge.
Hawkee 07-03-2019, 12:48 AM We are now watching METV again and that's the only channel we have watched since this afternoon and Mom and I found Wagon Train and we thought it was nice and then Mom and I saw Charlie's Angels on METV too. Mom also can't wait to see Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Mannix again because she really loves these shows. I can honestly say that METV has now become my favorite sitcom channel and I hope we can find a cable company that carries METV so I can keep watching it at my new house
Bestie
treky 07-03-2019, 01:56 AM ME TV is the best of all the retro-channels; the second and third best ones are ME TVs sister channels DEADES and H & I.
See I wish I got Decades, Antenna, or Laff instead of MeTV. Cause I've always been jealous that I don't get to see stuff like Dear John, My Two Dads, or Drew Carey Show. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I get H&I though through Spectrum.
*Edit*
My 666th post, how metal!
Hawkee 07-29-2019, 11:50 PM Mom and I also loved to see Matlock again and "I didn't even notice this" but METV also has Diagnosis Murder in the mornings but one thing I wish they did is to cut down on the 90 minute episodes of Wagon Train and put two episodes of The Love Boat in it's place before Charlie's Angels. Because I disliked having to wait for Charlie's Angels just to sit through Wagon Train first. I also think METV is trying to copy Hot Topic by selling sitcom themed merchandise and t-shirts with the METV Store and I think it shows that METV is growing by adding more TV watchers to their audience. In fact when Mom and I moved back into our hotel room we were so glad to watch METV again that we unpacked our luggage and rushed to the TV and watched Mama's Family and had a wonderful time

I like Diagnosis Murder , and after at 12:00 " In the heat of the night!" ! That is a really good show !!! Do you and your Mom ever watch that? It really is a good show, very realistic !! I think you two would like it!! ;)
Tubehead 07-30-2019, 08:57 PM I liked some of there classic shows!! to me i wish they would get ride of the westerns!! maybe bring back more comedies or cops shows!! i liked the weekend line up the best cause they show sci fi Fantasy shows!

The 90 minute Wagon Train is just a Summer of Me thing, I think. There is only one season of those and they're already on the second cycle.
I'd hope to see some major changes for MeTV in the fall. Their schedule is getting tiresome. But I'd suspect what will happen is the 2nd Rifleman comes back and the 60 minute Wagon Train comes back.
The Love Boat idea is great. I don't they've done that in the afternoon before.

I've heard that the original 1959 Twilight Zone will probably be returning this Fall also.
I saw somewhere (don't remember where) that an independent station is showing the original Twilight Zone back to back with "Tales from the Darkside".
Hawkee 09-13-2019, 01:18 AM Today we had to move back into our hotel and although I was glad to leave our previous hotel I kind of disliked it because my TV there had a limited selection of channels but as soon as we checked into our hotel room after we unpacked the luggage guess what we watched? You guessed it METV and Mom and I were so happy that we are gonna watch Mannix together again because that's one thing we always look forward to when we stay at hotels that have METV and I look forward to seeing Charlie's Angels. I wish when we move into our new house that we get METV on our cable because it's great. I hadn't heard any news about any other shows being added to METV this fall aside from The Flintstones and Barnaby Jones being added but hopefully when The Flintstones debut September 30th METV will improve itself even more
