It seems odd to me that David Letterman of all people has this long 19th Century like crazy beard he has now. It really makes him look ten years older than he is and isn’t flattering at all. Letterman to me would seem to be one of the last people who would ever have facial hair and then he goes full Rutherford B. Hayes on us. Why?

Again, the beard makes him look old and tired. I think one reason presented is that he wants to be anonymous in public and this is the way he did it. Dunno. I just find it bizarre. I can’t remotely imagine his wife liking it.

I'm not sure why he chose that look, but honestly I think he looks awful. I guess it's just a personal preference. I don't think it's because he's trying to "rebel" or anything but it's not a good look for him.

Letterman is completely insane now so the beard fits.

I think that he looks like Santa Claus, and even my parents think so too.

Maybe he was tired of shaving every day and decided to let the beard grow. He might have also decided to go with the bearded look after he retired from doing The Late Show. The beard is OK, doesn't look great, doesn't look bad, it just basically gives him a different appearance.

He's the middle child, which can be disconcerting. Maybe it's a cry for help or demanding attention, look at me I'm 72, bring me a rocking chair, who knows? He's entitled to his own look, but I would have thought everyone wishes to grow old gracefully.

I've always had a beard but I keep mine neat and trimmed. One time I decided to let it grow out big and bushy to see what it looks like, but after about a month or two I felt like I was having too much hair on my face so I trimmed it back again. :lol: :wave:

I strongly believe the man is mentally unwell. Google his name and you'll see that every single news item that comes up is an article about him bashing the President. He seems completely consumed and obsessed with it. What a sad way to live out your sunset years.

Letterman was epic at the beginning of his run. Funny and innovative. As it went on, he became grumpy and phoned a lot of the shows in. He used to do location shoots, that ended after awhile and he never left that desk. If a guest was nervous and having problems making conversation, he basically abandoned them and let them look bad.

I think the beard is in tune with the grumpy old man he became at the end of his run. It looks horrific, but he was pretty horrific as a host for the last years of his run.

I think David Letterman looks absolutely amazing. He's finally letting his inner hipster out, and it's obvious that he went with the beard to be less recognizable, although it kind of backfired on him now.
