Sorry if this is a duplicate of a previous post. I didn't feel like going through 45 pages of posts to see if it had been mentioned before.:crazy:


I feel kind of dumb admitting this but in my own defense I haven't watched Facts of Life in years until yesterday when I watched the whole first season on my DVR and it dawned on me that Mrs. Garrett is the same Ms. Garrett from Different Strokes. Kind of a no-brainier, I guess, but my DVR had me fooled into thinking that "Rough Housing" was the first episode of "The Facts of Life". I didn't realize that there was an earlier pilot.



So that being said (admitted, rather) in the "Girls' School" episode, Ms. Garrett goes back to working for Mr. Drummond. How many more episodes of "Different Strokes did she appear in after that? Because I was under the impression that she was in the entire (or most of the) series. I know that a lot of actors/actresses have done double duty on two shows, so I could see that happening. It would be kind of weird to play the same character on two shows simultaneously though.



I'm not really a fan of Different Strokes anymore and haven't watched it in ages either. But this episode was fun to watch.

Charlotte Rae was in the first season of DS, and about half of the 2nd season. Her last regular episode was episode #13 of season 2, "The Rivals". But it's not an episode about Mrs. Garrett, and there is nothing there about her leaving or anything. She does promise in the first FOL show "Rough Housing" to come back, but she doesn't keep that promise permanent (so I wish she wouldn't have promised, lol).

While there was no farewell for Charlotte on DS, I do seem to remember there being mentions of her after she was gone, during the search for a new housekeeper (things like "Since Mrs. Garrett left, yada yada yada", etc.)

Also, she does make a guest star appearance in Mr. Drummond's wedding episode of season 6. Sadly, it's the only crossover she made after she left DS to go to FOL.

That was to give Mrs. Garrett an out to come back if FOL failed. Charlotte Rae didn't want to be "Ropered".
