the Douglases!

I didn't know it was such a direct spinoff even with Sam Drucker's General store! Those daughters are cuter than anyone on Green Acres with the except of Eva Gabor.

Actually Green Acres is more a spin-off of Petticoat Junction. Petticoat Junction started a few years before Green Acres started up. Also the Douglas' do visit the Shady Rest occasionally and vicey versey (in the first season of Green Acres) Uncle Joe shows up in Green Acresville, er, Hootersville.;)

And if you really want to get down to it, Petticoat Junction was a sort of spin-off of Beverly Hillbillies. Granny & Clampetts visit Shady Rest and Sam Drucker appears in all 3 shows at one time and another. All 3 of these shows exist in the same sort of whacky universe.

I basically clicked to post this, but Hazel Anyday beat me to it and probably said it better than I could. I loved these shows when I was a kid, but I rarely watched them as an adult.

Right, that's what I meant but I had never seen Petticoat Junction till just a day or 2 ago! So Petticoat Junction started it and then when the Douglases came it became Green Acres!

Unfortunately those cute daughters from Petticoat Junction were gone!

Yep!! Those beauties were right up there with the 1st season of The Facts Of Life girls, just a different generation, and Southern instead of Northeast.

OH Nuts!

I like Petticoat Junction THE MOST of the three shows, by a mile. Mostly because I just love Bea Benadret. Although the other two can be fun to watch once in a great while.

I love both Petticiat Junction and Green Acres! :) Maybe PJ a little bit better for the sweet down home charm.:) GA for it's wacky down home charm. :D It really is hard to pick which I like better? :)

I never really could get into the Beverly Hillbillies much though for some reason?

I'd like to see Beverly Hillbillies because I've never seen it before. But it's not airing anywhere.

I should see it just for granny!

On Facts of Life it was Blair & that Julie Piearski girl. Probably misspelled her name..LOL. A LOT of boys in the 80s had a crush on Blair.

I've only seen 1 episode of PJ so I don't know enough but all 3 daughters are hot.

Green Acres was tied to PJ from day one. But there was no story tie between Beverly Hillbillies and the two Hooverville shows at the beginning. In fact, an early episode of Green Acres found the town’s community theater putting on a play based on their favorite TV show: The Beverly Hillbillies!

During PJs, sixth season, the show was faltering with lead Bea Benaderet dead. So the producers then tied to the show to the higher-rated Beverly Hillbillies to prop it up. They now said that Kate Bradley was a distant cousin of BH’s Cousin Pearl (both had been played by Benaderet). And they did crossover episodes for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I've been watching Green Acres a long time but I never even knew Petticoat Junction existed until a few years ago when I saw it on MeTV. It was pretty surreal to see Hooterville and characters like Mr. Drucker on a show that wasn't Green Acres.

It was Paul Henning's idea to cross pollinate characters on the shows in hopes it would give a ratings boost to the new series. But beyond GA's first season the shows went their separate ways and developed their own style and rhythm.

I actually think GA has more in common with Beverly Hillbillies as far as tone and humor. They both went for absurdism and satire more than PJ did.

Lori Saunders gets my vote every time. Here's a little Lori at her most Ga Ga ness, :eek:it's a picture in case it doesn't pop up here like I'd like.

For a really neat Lori movie where she's a wolf girl in the wild (oh, yeagh) :o along with Batman himself as a co-star see Mara of The Wilderness right here:

But I wouldn't kick any of them outta bed.;)

Yeah!! Lori Saunders is my favorite too, she was not only the prettiest but the coolest too! :);) I also think the original Bobbie Jo, Pat Woodell was really pretty too, but not as fun as Lori's Bobbie Jo ! And Jeannine Riley was really pretty too and Gunilla Hutton (They were the prettiest Billie Jo's) ;) IMO the least pretty of all the girls were Meredith MacRae and Linda Kaye Henning! Even though I liked them too.(Betty Jo was awesome, really cool), The four I mentioned first were much prettier IMO! ;)

Straight woman ( I LOVE men):happyface:eyes: opinion here!!:cool::D

Even though Eva Gabor is hot you get tired of her stupid & silly antics!

Not only is Petticoat Junction better but you get 3 hot girls instead of one!

Lisa Welchel hosts The Collector's Call on MeTV, and she still looks pretty good for her age (59). Although back then, I preferred Jo (Nancy McKeon).

For beauty though, I've got to give the nod to the Petticoat Junction girls over The Facts of Life. Not really close IMO.
