Holy screw-up! In the wake of being cancelled by ABC after three seasons, the super-campy crime-fighter series was on the verge of being rescued by NBC… until it was discovered that the sets had already been destroyed!

(Biff! Pow! indeed.) Not wanting to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebuild, the Peacock passed.

The first season is generally considered the best because the producers took actual plots from the Batman comic book and camped them up. Even though it was meant to be funny, you could still enjoy it as a superhero action show.

By the time that the second season rolled around, the producers seemed to go for straight satire, like the episode where the Penguin runs for mayor.

And finally by the third season, the scripts and campiness no longer seemed ironic and tongue in cheek. Instead, they outright felt like a cheap, bad comedy.
