The ninth season of Homicide Hunter will begin airing in August. After that, there will be no more new episodes. Although Kenda solved nearly 400 homicides during his law enforcement career, he felt that there wouldn't be enough TV-approved cases left to keep Homicide Hunter going past season nine. So far, 124 episodes of the long-running Investigation Discovery series have been broadcast. Excellent show. I never thought that Colorado Springs would have so many homicides that Kenda solved that many cases. I always liked his promos too.

Joe Kenda had good one-liners as well as promos. Homicide Hunter is a great show, so I agree with you.

When Kenda announced his decision to end Homicide Hunter, he stressed the importance of the show's integrity. He also stated that he "didn't want to be the athlete that stayed on the field for one season too long, or the singer who remained on the stage after they lost their voice." Great words, as it shows that Kenda knows when to say when, an important principle in doing a successful TV show, but one that it is evidently lost on too many people.

Since it is not uncommon for reruns of true crime cable programs to surface in second-run syndication, I wouldn't be surprised if Homicide Hunter eventually turns up on various over-the-air stations. With 120+ episodes under the show's belt, one shouldn't rule out that possibility.

You're welcome, jbjr. It's been a year since I finished reading that book, so I don't remember if Det. Ron Stallworth is mentioned in the book. Kenda may have mentioned the Jon Benet Ramsey case, but I am not entirely certain. But he talked about some cases that were never featured on Homicide Hunter, including a few non-homicide cases.

One of them involved a man who was hospitalized because he, shall I say, lost his manhood. He claimed that he was sexually mutilated by intruders, but Kenda was skeptical. Upon learning that Kenda discovered evidence that contradicted his intruder story, the man admitted the truth: Without going into the graphic details, I will say that his mutilation resulted from a sexual activity gone horribly wrong. The man was never charged with anything, as Kenda felt that he had already suffered enough.

The book also details some cases that were featured on the show. One of them was the 1979 murders of a pregnant mother and her two sons, a case that was documented in the episode "The Master Key." Although the case predated DNA, Kenda was certain he had enough evidence against the suspect. To his dismay, however, the man was acquitted. Sometime after the trial, the man left Colorado and went to Brooklyn, New York, where he eventually became a victim of karma: He was thrown to his death from a 10th floor apartment building. Kenda has talked about this case, not only on Homicide Hunter and in his autobiography, but also in interviews. Given the brutal nature of the murders, as well as the fact that the victims were a pregnant mother and two little boys, Joe Kenda cites the case as his most memorable one.
